Assuming that you could secure enough orders, you could go directly to a distributor about setting a special price for a group buy.

I honestly don't think you will have much luck though. The gun is going to be hard to get for the first 6 months of its release. Because of that, distributors, are going to be sending out guns either on a first come, first served or favorable nations basis. Thats going to leave a lot of dealers waiting on stock.

Yep, I'm thinking my Christmas present to me if I'm lucky.

Every Ruger I have is dead on accurate though, I'm eager to see what they've been able to do with a 1911.

It's all metal. The black just makes it look plastic. I haven't decided if I like the black or not.

I'd really like an all black 1911 Govt model, sans any plastic pieces. I read a few things on it (SR1911) since my post. Does not sound like a plastic MSH afterall. I'm a big Ruger fan...just wish it was black. Starting to think about the Springer RO.

I like the Range Officer but if you can wait a little while, I would. Everyone I've talked to says that Ruger is planning to release a full series of 1911s so I'm sure that there will be some all black guns offered.

Starting to think about the Springer RO.

If bought a Springer RO a few months ago, and it is awesome. It is hard to find a comparable 1911 for less than $1,500. It isn't a carry gun, but does what it was designed to do very well. My only complaint is the LPA rear sight cut. I prefer some type of 3-dot configuration, and the options are pretty limited. The standard sights are excellent, but I am just more comfortable with 3-dots.

I really think Ruger is headed iin the right direction. An all American made 1911, in the Series 70 tradition. If they come out with a blued version, I will have to buy one.
