Thanks for the answers. I was specifically thinking about the buffalo bore +p 380 ammo. I agree it is a great little gun and fun to shoot. Now , I know for sure it is totally safe.

Okay,

1st. Thanks for the link JG55

2nd. All others thanks for the info, don't have a clue where you got it, but thanks anyway.

C. When I asked the questions, all I could find about the safety, was a recall early on in production, nothing about a hammer block or trigger disconnect

On the topic link one poster said the safety prevents the slide from moving when the hammer is in the half cock position. Here it's posted about the

hammer block. The question wasn't about a fully cocked hammer but a half cocked one that appeared to release hard enough to fire if loaded no matter

the position of the safety, nope, I didn't try the pencil test. I should have..

D. I carry a 3.5in 1911 now, but the folks I work for want it hidden, winter

time was no problem, Iv'e tried the Crossbreed holster and a few more of that type holsters, just can't find anything comfortable..I'm in and out of a

car many times during the night.

5th. I wasn't trying to pee on the pistol, it's still on my list of mabyes,I just needed more information.

like the hammer block, if it does have one it should safe to carry with one in the pipe and hammer down. right? got no problem with that.

I know in my first post I said it wouldv'e fired, I had no way of knowing that. shouldv'e choosen my words more carefully..

Thanks ......again Moose

Okay, if you are at half cock with the thumb safety on and pull the trigger, the hammer will fall. But, since it is not a true half cock and only a safety to prevent detonation on a hammer follow, it will not have enough inertia to detonate the round anyway. Also, with the thumb safety on, you cannot pull the hammer back to full cock. So carrying it hammer down, thumb safety on will not work unless you plan to flip off the thumb safety and then cock it.:P

I think all we were trying to get across to you was that the gun was designed to be carried cocked and locked and why it is very safe to do. So, the question as to the half cock scenario was dismissed in favor of explaining the design better, in hopes of alleviating any fears you might have of carrying it cocked and locked.:)

If your concern is that the safety might get knocked into the off position DM Bullard Holster company makes a front pocket holster that covers the safety to protect it from this happening. Search ebay for it runs about $45 and includes a mag holder also for that price. Sig makes a back pocket holster that will protect the safety also runs about $25.

Hope this helps
