the range

Went to the range today with my good buddy Bucnball. Shot my Mossberg model 42M© with the original peep for the first time since I fixed it. 50 yards...all in the small rings but no cigar. This rifle has been an adventure from the getgo so I was pretty amazed it shot let alone actually hit what I was aiming at. (It's been so long since it was fired a tiny spider had a nest in the peep...I really hated to disturb him/her/whatever. but he was too hard to see through)

I've been wanting an AK...now I don't...they don't shoot very straight and they're loud...my SKS is better and quieter. I don't like the AR 15 either after watching one jam...jam...jam. I think there were more ejected unfired rounds than holes in the target. That created quite the flinch. On the other side of the range boss booth was a Mosin Nagant that was quiet compared to the 44 mag and the 7mm mag on either side of him.

And I shot my new old Mosin and I like it. When I was in the navy (lo these many years ago) I had to attempt to qualify with a Springfield O3A3...not my cuppa tea but I like the Mosin (commie piece a junk) I could shoot it. I never did hit the target with the 03A3...and they made me a Gunners Mate!! Go Figure!

you might not want to give up on the ar platform just because some guy at the range couldn't get his right. I am not posting my tahoe for sale just because i saw a chevy broke down on the side of the road tonight.

Overall, sounds like a great trip to the range.

I should do it more often...I'm actually not a bad shot...for a guy who learned how from a book. and this is not the first time I've watched an AR jam.
