As a faculty member in the Humanities, as a gun owner, as an American, as an advocate of the theory that "all college administrators are idiots or just plain evil," I am BEYOND PO'd about this one. Read it and be disgusted. Some of the comments posted at the end made me smile.

I was particularly amazed at the concern that the fake "gun shots" would be heard outside the theater. Two thoughts quickly spring to mind:

1) College theater walls are usually built pretty thick to insulate the interior from exterior noise. I imagine the insulation works both ways...

2) The gunshot sound is pre-recorded and piped through the sound system at the appropriate moment. I'm betting they have a volume control on that sound board.

Freakin' insane nonsense.
