Which ammo is easier to come by ????

Fixing to buy a Rugar new model Blackhawk. My question is which caliber? Want ammo to be relatively inexpensive...but readily available. Would like to purchase a convertible. Should I go with .357/9 MM or .45 Colt/.45 Auto?

9mm is easiest and cheapest.

Plus there is a lot more of a selection of 9mm/38 SPC/357 ammo than there is in 45 ACP/ 45 LC.

And if you decide to relaod later down the road components are cheaper as well.

Plus, since the Judge came out, the price of .45 Colt factory loads have gone through the roof!! 9mm and .38 one can still afford to shoot... for now...

i have to agree also...u can get some mean 9mm rounds for a fair price... plus u can still have 38 AND 357.. like 3 guns in one

It’s a Cowboy gun, so I would go with .45 Colt.

Cheapest to shoot would be the 357/9mm convertible.

I've never owned one, but I will tell you that 9mm bullets are .355" while 357 bullets are .357-.358". I don't know how this affects accuracy. That being said, I'd like to have a convertible chambered for the two.

I have the .30 cal Carbine. It's a blast to shoot...when I can find brass cased ammo. if you're looking for good bulk ammo and want to stick in TN check out TN Cartridge Company (Tennessee Cartridge Co. - Ammunition Manufacturer), I've been shooting their stuff through my Uberti .45lc and it's been great.

I have the Blackhawk .357/9mm. Love it.

.357 ain't cheap, but .45 colt is way expensive, and of course .45 ACP is way more than 9mm.

Plus you can shoot .38 Special too.

$20 a box (50) for any top of the line jacketed HP is a good deal.

I just don’t like the marketing tactics for Winchester Ranger; “TALON†and “LEO ONLY†is just marketing hype.

I wish I could buy .40S&W Hydra-Shok for anywhere close to that.

Like others have said, the .38's and 9mm's will be cheaper. But that being said I bought one of each. Love 'em.

I dont know how but Mine shoots both the same. Ive heard most bullets are a difference of .001-.002 between manufacturer anyway. Found that out when tracking a problem with Buffalo Bore Ammo.

Bench shooting should show a slight diff between .357 and 9mm, since the barrel is sized for the larger bullet. There is also a difference in how the different weights and powder loads available for .357 vs 9mm affect POI without adjusting sights. Even with same diameter and weight bullet, there's gonna be a diff tween .38 and .357.

Of course, I'm not good enough to notice a diff.
