I'm going to cover my head and wince after I ask this...

I don't understand the need for this thread, but whatever.

Sometimes, I think we just feel the need to rasie our hands and say "Hey, I'm different, but I'm ok." and start talking. Rarely do I say things only because there's a need; more often than not, I say things to bump people from their regular thoughts, and force them to cock their head and think sideways.

Then, I put on The Duke, and run around my back yard.

Yes. I know. There is something VERY wrong with me. But, it feels so right.

:)

While I wouldn't say I am a Democrat I am most def not a Republican. Strick and I appear to be pretty centerist.

Good observation...I stopped associating and contributing to the Republican party about 20 years ago.

If I call myself anything these days it's "conservative" with strong Libertarian leanings (I'm simply not as "let it be" as true Libertarians are!).

I suspect that even a majority of those folks who call themselves "Republicans" or "Democrats" are really neither one but rather, tend to vote as they think best in any given election (which is as it should be IMAHO).

I was an active Republican for three decades. I left the party when it became the "What is good for the Rich People is good for the country" party. All the Democrats offered was the "What is good for the Welfare People is good for the country"line. I have been an Independent ever since leaving the party. I consider myself a Free Market Conservative and vote split tickets.

Both parties attract only fringe extreme elements and do nothing for the common man. Neither party has any clue as to what Democracy, Christianity or Family Values really represent. If this country ever falls, GOD forbid, it will be the two party system that destroys it.

I am not a Republican nor a Democrat, I am a U.S. Citizen and believe I have the right to make up my own mind as to what is good for the country. I will vote according to my own beliefs.

There are far, far too many people in this country who vote "party line"...moreover, there are far, far to many people who vote party line only because their "Mommy" or their "Daddy" was an "R" or a" D".

I saw this operating in full force when Mr. Tree was running against GWB in 2000...I could go down issue by issue with many of my friends and by the time we were done, there was not question that Bush was the candidate that most closely matched where they stood on the issues yet they insisted they were going to vote for Gore because he was a Democrat and they always vote Democrat. I absolutely support people voting as they wish but I do wish people would put some actual thought into the process.

I have never contributed to the Republican Party

directly, but will call myself a Republican by

affiliation, and contribute to individual candidates.

You can label yourself anything you want but your

core beliefs will always give you away for someone

else's party label. When I took a test online( on Beck's

webpage, yes links2k, I have been there once or twice),

it ended by saying I was an extreme libertarian. And

that made me think a bit more of what a political

label really meant to me. I'm more conservative than

Republican, but it still fits.

It would serve no purpose to have a dem gun lover

section. Most of us are civil. Welcome, by the way!

And therein lies "stupid," on BOTH sides.

AGREED. I am VERY pro gun. I FINALLY got my HCP and it feels good. My friends think it's bizarre that I argue for gay rights while waving my NRA card.

The R stance on gays is as foolish as the D stance on guns. I am mostly a conservative/R but I stand by the freedoms of this country along with having the government NOT involved in people's lives anymore than is necessary. So, with those 2 nutty ideas, I support gay rights as a freedom and think its none of government's business who marrys/sleeps with who (consenting, of age, etc). That puts me at odds with many R's, but thats ok. I also support the constitution as it stands, which means I am not all that thrilled with certain R folks that want to trash on the 14th (is that right? the born here = citizen one, I get numbers mixed up). Other than those I mostly agree with the R platform, though. Everyone has their little differences with the party system and MOST people dislike the extremists on BOTH sides, unfortunately the loud, small minority at the fringes of both parties has had a lot of influence this past decade.

It really doesn't matter, does it? Is it a problem that society should bare responsibility

and protect over another? I'm fairly confident you don't hump monkeys, but maybe

clarification is needed. j/k hilarious nickname.

If something is a choice or you're born that way is only a definition of an origin. It has nothing

to do with victimization, which is a political tool for someone else's power grab. That is a huge

difference in political ideology between classes of society. Whether you are a conservative,

which includes gays as much as liberals, or a traditional liberal, what comes with victimization

otherwise?

I think it's just plain tyranny when you specially protect a certain class over another.

We've gone down that road of whether it's one or the other. I just don't care one way

or the other. I do care how they allow themselves to be victimized, however. It costs you

and I when that happens. Usually freedom or money, always something.

They usually never benefit, either, although they might think otherwise.

Just more class warfare for re-election that needs to be expunged from politics.

Every group tries to take things too far. Most homos just wanna live their lives with the same rules as everybody else. Do we give them reparations? NO. Do we discriminate against them? No again.
