AR BUILD SHEET....what am I missing?

Recommended Posts

Sounds good when I get all my parts in I will be calling you....nothing like meeting someone for the first time and asking for a favor LOL. I like that gasbuster mod I think I'm gonna go ahead and do that today.

Take Oshoot with you. He has a carcass to retrieve :D

Figured that. Just wondering why they don't have anything in stock. I'm thinking about starting another build, so I've been sniffing around for a lower. I like the Spike's lowers, but probably won't sign up for a 6 week wait. Last one I got from them, it was out the door in a few days, and had to go thru engraving.

Right now www.aimsurplus.com has pre-order available on the Spikes ST15 lowers for $79.99 shipped. Which beats any local deal I have found by about $40.00 I considered buying another just because its such a good deal in case I wanted to build another later. Call me crazy but I think your gonna see some price increases around nov/dec due to the crazies thinking the world is gonna end in 2012

No one would ever make a run on things in preparation for the end of the world. If it didn't happen for Y2K, it won't... Oh wait!

The 2012 election prediction may have more to do with a run on AR's and ammo than anything else. Look at the EBR market when BHO was elected.

Update...

Still waiting on the "custom" lower.....so in the meantime i bought a el cheap UTG riser so I can co-witness with my SIG Dot site(yea yea its cheap, but if shtf I have irons). It was just $7 shipped on amazon and at that price the UTG medium riser is a hell of a deal. Aircraft grade aluminum and as far as I can tell it tightens up rock solid....the nut is actually pretty trick and uses a spring tensioner and can be hand tightened without any wobble (i did add some blue loctite on it and the sigs mount though)....will be interesting to see if stays on...if it does wow...I will say the UTG AK sight rails I have used have been rock solid. Will post some pics of it all together when the lower gets here....should be interesting.

OH boy....new update from Spikes....might be another 3 weeks on the lower....thats what I get for ordering a "non-standard" style.....for now im just gonna have to enjoy the MSAR

No offense to Spike's, but they have never been known to be "quick" on most orders. We've always got a bunch of purchase orders in the QUE awaiting to be shipped out.

In regards to charging handles, these new ones we just got in from Kies Firearms are going to be pretty slick. Super beefy billet handle. Hopefully I can convince them to outfit them with Badger Tac latches as well to decrease the cost to the consumer of buying them seperate:

I don't want to sound picky but why would you have serrations on the aft side of the handle?

When I operate a charging handle I push my thumb on the backside of the charging handle to relieve pressure off the "hook" of the latch to keep the upper from prematurely wearing out. The steel latch will win in a battle versus the alum upper. It sure won't hurt anything with extra "grip" on the backside if it's wet or you have gloves on.
