Unlike some, I don't preach what everyone else should or should not use, and I don't arrogantly claim that I'll admit being wrong if somebody finally does prove me wrong. Glocks are no different from many other designs, but they are more numerous. They work quite well for me, but I don't tell people that is what they should go get. For the record, I've never shot myself with a 1911 or a Glock, and I don't even have the commando/ninja training that some do.

aww.

I didn't mean to make ya mad deerslayer. I do admit to using firearms in various ructions over the years. I do admit to my own bias towards a particular firearm. I'm pretty sure you guys know that...

perhaps the reason that people shoot themselves with Glocks is because they're more numerous than a 1911...wait.no thats not it.

Perhaps its because they incorporate 5 safeties into their design just like the 1911.. oops! wrong again.

perhaps its because MOST folks that carry them are stupid and forget their manual of arms (which obviously you do NOT do).. hmmm that sounds plausible..

perhaps its because I think the whole "safety in the trigger" is a really bad idea?.. nope..they'd probably shoot themselves with it if it was an xd or any other weapon that had the safety incorporated into the trigger..

oh wait..they do! never mind.:( (that was sarcasm)

the unsupported chamber on some models of the glock just add icing to the cake.

I guess they're like microsoft windows..they have soo many models because they have to fix all the problems :P

as for the commando/ninja training....

all in good time grasshoppah!

I do preach don't I? I apologize for it. as for being arrogant..I admit to that..and I figure I'll pay for it one day...but it won't be with my own pistol:D..I'll probably be bludgeoned by some huge, hairy guy with arms the size of oak trees who rides a motorcycle..for being an arrogant, opinionated jerk.

and for the record!!! I pick on myself because I'm the only one I can pick on without fear of getting a black eye out of the deal :P

Actually, I was talking about Mars, not you.

It should be marketed as a professional duty weapon rather than as a public carry weapon. It is a very good duty weapon. It is a very poor public carry weapon.

My problem is with Glock groupies who think they have the best weapon just because "the cops" use it. ............Unfortunately there is a very good reason why it is a very bad weapon for "the public" and that public is unable to comprehend that.

I strongly suspect that most Glock owners buy them for status reasons rather than rational reasons, since there are virtually no rational reasons for them to own them.

Glock is just a really dumb choice for most people to use for self-defense.

But I will still contend that most people buy them because they don't know an y better.

I think Glocks are very good duty weapons for law enforcement.

I was smart enough to trade them.

When you have a reasonable and cognitive position, you expect to be attacked by the weak-of-mind.

Do you honestly not see the obvious "I'm superior" arrogance you portray?? I don't own one either, nor will I bash them. But why the need to constantly try to demean others and call Glock owners stupid, weak-minded, non-comprehending, irrational, dumb, or just too ignorant to know any better groupies when voicing your opinions about the gun??? Can you not make a valid point regarding your opinion of the gun without slipping in all the hateful remarks about those who choose to buy them?

As far as Glocks being for law enforcement only (and yes you did say that several times), from what I see, the majority of the folks guilty of ND with the Glocks are LEO. How is that even sound reasoning???

You may not like the public owning that brand of weapon, and thats perfectly fine, but seriously, give it a rest already. No one has to prove you wrong, there is no right or wrong. It's your opinion and nothing more. It's not your criticism of the Glock design that gets old, it's your bashing of those who choose to carry the Glock that gets old.

Not trying to start a war here, but I'm amazed that you can speak to fellow forum members so arrogantly and not understand why some may get their "panties in a wad".

Mars just likes to get everybody upset with his Glock comments. I admit some of is comments are rather on point. :cool:But they have not and will not deter me from carrying G23 or G27. For those of you that must get upset for the Glock comments, please have fun. Mars, Tower, if one day some one where to save your butt by using a Glock would you be upset with their choice of weapon. Guess we can be adults or act like a bunch of kids. If you profile fits the latter, you may not have the mental where with all to be carrying any weapon

Jack, the only reason I don't like GG's creation.. oh..wait..theres more than one reason..there's more than 5 reasons.

I have had to be saved only once..and that was by a medic. there after I learned never to stick my head into holes.:) and haven't needed saving since.

Nevertheless, you and I both know that everyone has different preferences and since we're all different, we have a cornucopia of weapons to choose from to carry.

You like your Glocks? awesome! :owned:

I like my BHP and Springfield EMP.

I could care less about Glocks and related discussion.

When wandering around the farm/woods/range and I'm carrying the hideous Ruger, its chambered with the safety off, 1st shot DA.

With Kimber - cocked, locked, ready to rock. one in the chamber, cocked, safety on. Taking it off is a fluid part of drawing (I practice it.)

In other news, I am a big proponent of practicing - regardless of how reliable or whatnot your handgun is. Snap caps or empty, in a safe place, etc.

I kinda like revolvers for the woods.

I've carried a couple of Glocks and I understand firsthand the problems with them. If that's what you want to carry, then go for it. But I hope my comments will keep other people from choosing a gun because so many people are foolishly thrilled with a good, but flawed, handgun.

If you can't understand that Glocks have problems, and what those problems are, it isn't because I haven explained - had to explain them - repeatedly. I want to shut up about Glocks and their problems, but I cant do that as long as the myopic insist that they are the best thing since...oranges.

I can think of applications where they are adequate or very good, but I can think of no application where they are the best.

Opinion vs reality... what a concept. TNDixieGirl hit it on the head.

Glocks excel in the same venues where 1911s excel; where speed and accuracy are more important than "OMG I hope I don't shoot myself w/ this gun thingy".

By the way, I carry w/ one in the chamber. I am also not afraid of my gun and don't presume to tell anyone else what is best for them. That would make me a puffed up, self-proclaimed ninja... or just a bonehead.

Tower, Mars you help make my point. It is purely a matter of preference nothing more. Mars I don't believe I've ever tried to sell any one on Glocks on this or any other site. But I have also never tried to talk people out of any particular fire arm. Heck every fire arm made is dangerous, I don't care how many safety features you put on it or in it. Anything mechanical can malfunction, Thays why i like glocks it is about as simple as a design can be. Finely most gun incidents fall back on human failure. People do dumb things with guns. Since I've been shot twice in my life (not self inflicted by the way), My respect for firearms and there ability to put holes in people mat be a tad higher most peoples.

Not to step on anyone's toes here...

I understood the thread topic to be cocked/locked or not... Rather than, do you worship Gaston Glock or not...

Just sayin'...

I don't think I've ever seen a single one of your Pulitzer prize winning explanations on this site. All I've ever read is a bunch of arrogant, irrational rants. BTW, who made you the final authority on what is a good CCW for concealed carry?

I am beginning to wonder if all your anti-Glock rhetoric is the result of your shooting yourself in the leg back when you supposedly owned a Glock. Fess up, Mars. Did you have an ND?

We aren't just off-track here... The train has derailed.

I say lock the thread and be done with it.

Or just rename it, 'My Daddy Can Beat Up Your Daddy 'Cause My Daddy Carries A Glock'.

Seriously, guys...

I've been watching this thread and have come to my own conclusion. Guns are allot like Cars. You got your Chevy guys vs. Ford, Vs, Mopar vs the rice burners and everything else in between. It's called brad loyalty You find what you like what works for you and to heck with everything else. It's the same in the 4 wheel community. I hear it all the time Jeeps rule, Land Rovers break down to much Hummers suck blah blah blah......I am enjoying the fact that we can have this debate in an open forum and that we have the freedom to do so...By the way I carry a Wilson Combat Carry Comp Professional locked cocked and ready & ready to rock

For the record - I am not discouraging debate. I, too, am thankful for a forum like this and the discussions that occur here.

I'm just saying, let's have this 'debate' in a thread called 'Do Glocks Suck or Not? - A Diatribe In 8 Pages' and see if Glockguy can get some more answers to the original question.

:eek::D
