And yet another thread degrades into a Glock crybaby-fest. ANYWAY, I carry a USPc cocked and locked.

When I carry one of my Glocks, they are chambered and ready to fire. I've recently been looking at those trigger safety devices called "Saf-T-Bloks"......anyone on here have any experience with using these on their Glocks? There's also a special trigger you can get with a push button safety built right into the trigger......anybody know anything about these?

I am just wondering why Glock seem to be singled out...not by you, so please dont take offense, but in general, it seems they are singled out because of the lack of saftey device, arent there alot of pistols that do not have saftey devices?

I don't have a problem with them not having a safety. I think that is a very good protocol for people in professional law enforcement.

My problem is with Glock groupies who think they have the best weapon just because "the cops" use it. From what I've seen, that is the basic reason people buy Glocks. There is a very good reason it is a good weapon for the cops. Unfortunately there is a very good reason why it is a very bad weapon for "the public" and that public is unable to comprehend that.

I strongly suspect that most Glock owners buy them for status reasons rather than rational reasons, since there are virtually no rational reasons for them to own them.

Glock is just a really dumb choice for most people to use for self-defense.

There are other poor choices, but Glock tops the list of essentially decent guns on the list. The others are names like Lorcin, Ravin, etc.

I know all about them. Just buy a better handgun and you won't have to worry about it.

I apologize. That was snotty. But I do know about them.

Honestly, they are add-ons for faults in Glock design.

Mars, I bought my first Glock back in 1990. I had never heard of them when I went into the gun shop to buy a handgun, and back then they weren't even that popular with the police yet. I fell in love with the look and feel of it....along with it's ease of use and simple breakdown. I didn't buy it to be cool, like the cops  I put well over 10,000 rounds through that G17, with mostly the cheapest ammo I could find, with not ONE problem. Previous to that, I'd had several different auto handguns, shotguns, and rifles jam and fail on me......and even one of my trusted revolvers. The Glock is truly perfection.....dependable, durable, beautiful, functional, lightweight, and straight shootin' right out of the box. I suspect this is why most cops trust them with their lives every day. I also suspect that is the same reason the majority of civilians buy Glocks for self defense purposes.....they want a gun that they can truly trust with their lives.

Sorry to go against your stereotype, but I bought mine for rational reasons that I have discussed in previous threads. I have no issues I'm trying to compensate for by owning a Glock, either.

I bought two for very rational reasons. They were never-the-less poor choices. But I will still contend that most people buy them because they don't know an y better.

Thanks for the response...

now back to the topic at hand.....

once again, I carry one in the chamber, ready to fire....I have no safety.

But you didn't say that most people buy them because of ignorance, you said most people buy them for status symbols.

As we discussed in an earlier thread, had I known about the unsupported chamber, perhaps I would have bought something else. I doubt it, but perhaps.

Oh, and to stay on topic: I carry my Glock chambered and ready to ka-boom.

Chambered and holstered (no manual safety because I own a silly Glock)

======================

Steele: I'm talking about your weapon, soldier. Now Delta or no-Delta, that's still a hot weapon. Your safety should be on at all times.

"Hoot": This is my safety, sir.

[He holds up his index finger and bends motions as if squeezing a trigger and then walks off]

The best safety is your finger...keep it off the trigger until you are ready to fire. If your gun goes off accidentally without you pulling the trigger, then your gun has some issues. I always carry my SA chambered...the BG isn't gonna give me time to rack it and besides...bad things can and will happen in the good part of town as well..look at how murfeeboro and symrna is getting to be.

You make a valid point. I guess it's just out of habit from not carrying before I received my permit to not carry a loaded firearm unless I'm hunting or at the range. Due to recent events, I will start carrying chambered and ready to go. Just a quick question though, do yall have the safety on or off when your carrying locked and ready to go? I carry my Bulgarian Makarov 9x18mm with me when I carry.

Glock 23 always hot.

No I did not buy a Glock because LEO's use them ,No did Not by a Clock Because I know nothing about fire armsOr I uninformed.

Mars your statements about why people buy a glock sounds like rant to me. If what you've stated is based on facts, then show me those facts.

I Have never had a failure with my Glock and that is why I carry it.

ill be honest i bought my first glock in 1996 when i got my handgun permit and yes i bought it because some cops i know carry them the way i looked at it is if they can put there life's on the line with a glock i could to now i buy one because i know how good they are ive put about 10,000 rounds threw mine and it has never jambed up i wish i could say the same for my 1911 :)

My SIG P226 isn't cocked or locked, but it is chambered and ready.

we have covered this before. an unloaded gun is a useless gun. do you think that if you had to pull that sidearm to defend yourself, do you really think that chambering a round will be at the top of your list? that could be the difference in being shot or being the one that is doing the shooting.

Actually, I don't disagree with you. I think Glocks are very good duty weapons for law enforcement. I just think there are better choices for the public to carry for protection and general shooting.

Mars, I will not disagree with you that Glocks are not for everyone.

But it comes down to a matter of personal preference.

There have been quite a few LEO's that have screwed up with glocks as well as any other weapon. It really is a matter of commitment to safe gun handleing, No matter what weapon one chooses.

I carry with one in chamber regardless of what I carry. What good is an unloaded paper weight

Any handgun, for proper use, requires that the user understand the limitations of the weapon as well as the positive aspects. Each weapon has it's positive aspects and it's negative aspects.

If you are unable to understand those aspects, you shouldn't be packing.

I just see some brand users as less able to understand the limitations and deal with reality as reality.

I buy my handguns because they feel right in my hands, nothing to do with the brand or who uses them. Everytimg I have decided to purchase a gun I have asked opinions and then came home with something completely different than the brand I inquired about.

I have a revolver, the S&W 640 j frame and the "dreaded" Glock 26 which is turning out to be my favorite handgun to carry which btw getting back to the topic, I carry chambered and ready to rock!!!

Ready to go bang! .38 J- frame, 1911, Glock 22 (my now daily carry gun). I think a gun is as safe as its user, but then I think skydiving is perfectly safe too.
