T/C pro Hunter

I have just recently purchased a T/C prohunter muzzleloader. I bought with the intentions of buying some additional rifle barrels to go with it. After checking online at the prices of the barrels I quickly figured im just going to pick my favorite caliber and just buy one. Yesterday at the gun show a guy told me that there are aftermarket barrels out there that are fluted, stainless, and basically identical to the T/C but cheaper. I'm a firm believer that cheaper is not always better, especially on most guns however if there are good quality barrels that are cheaper, its not beyond me to save a buck or 2. Does anyone know of any a/m barrels out there?

There are several companies that make great barrels for the Encore. Your best bet to save some money is to buy used barrels. This website is a good source for new, used and third party encore/contender barrels. Ed's Contenders, Thompson Contenders and Encores.

A friend bought a new Bergara barrel for a standard Encore (not prohunter) and it was terrible. The action wouldn't close after the barrel was installed. It was off more than just a little bit. Just my 2cents...I wouldn't buy the Bergara.

I bought a .30-06 barrel for my Pro Hunter on e-bay. It's a fluted T/C barrel and I got a great deal on it.

I just bought a blue 30-06 Bergara barrel for my Encore, and other than a scuff from the plastic packaging it is a very nice barrel. I don't have a ton of rounds through it, but it seems accurate so far. The fit was also great. I had no issues with fitment at all. Midsouth shooters supply usually has some good prices, as well as Midway USA. T/C also has some specials on there website for certain calibers.

You don't have to go thru a FFL for a barrel. Thats only for serial numbered parts (the receiver).
