is this a bullet of some sort

about 20-23 years ago I was walking along an old graveyard off of poplar av in collierville TN. I was about 12-13 at the time and was just poking around when I found this piece of metal on the ground. well fast forward to today and found it in a box and figured I would ask you fine gentlemen what you opinion of what this might be. It is about an 1.5-2" long. feels like lead but is not soft like lead. it is scared up a great bit but what is odd is it has what looks to be the makings of a hollow point tip and the rear of this thing has a rounded edge (not sure how else to describe it). Well here are some pictures. is it an old bullet of some sort?

there were words to Dueling Banjo's?
There's words?

And early on in this thread there lurked a topic. Perhaps we should revisit it. :)

Consensus...a bullet?

It's a bullet in such condition it is impossible to determine the type. Caliber maybe, but nothing else.

Might make someone a fine banjo pick.

the song was pretty much a top 40 staple hit and got tons of airplay when it came out.

Actually, "Deliverance" (1972) is on right now, AMC (Comcast 36). You can catch the entire experience...

Thats ok, I'll pass.

Does AMC show their stuff unedited anymore? Added commercials, of course, so there's a plus. At least it is letterboxed.

It appears to be intact enough to get the weight as well (?). I would guess at a 30/30 but if you grab the outer diameter, length, and weight, you can probably get close to the truth. It was fired probably, those look like rifling marks in the pic -- though you never know it could have gotten stuck in the barrel, been bashed out with a cleaning rod to make the "hollow point", and discarded.... I am guessing its modern enough to not have a very interesting history unless you found it near a skeleton.

You obviously haven't worked to hard in your life time....you have very clean girly hands, and is that a leather shirt cuff I see??. No offense.......

Does the cemetary have any old war vets burried there?? Wondering if a 21 gun salute used real bullets at one time.....possible?? Maybe. Then again, so is the swamp monster per the Discovery channel......take it to a gun/balistic historian and see if they may be able to help you out....
