Wife and I saw a pair of Coyotes this evening in Oak Ridge.

She only had a chance to get a picture of the second one. The first one was about twice the size of this one. I got a good look at both of them.

We saw 4 deer in the same area the day before. 2 large doe and what appeared to be 2 last year's doe's. I could see their heads clearly, no more then 30-40 feet away.

Those vermin are everywhere, FWIW. Great pic's.

I recently saw one just off of I-24 along the Mill Creek area between the Blue Hole Rd overpass and Haywood Lane. I wouldn't be surprised if they were roaming my neighborhood.

Thats my problem, I only see 'em in places where I can't shoot 'em. And never when I can.

And like a couple others said, nice picture.

I see 'em some evenings from my office in the neighborhood of the McDonald's on the Turnpike. They like that wooded area on the north side of the FOB. The feds protect 'em there, LOL!

Nice picture. We live in Loudon. In the last, few years I have seen coyotes:

1. In our back yard in broad daylight (no chance of getting a shot at it)

2. Dead on I-75 between the Sugar Limb Road and Lenoir City exits

3. Running across a frozen farm pond close to I-75, about a mile or so south of the Lenoir City exit at about 7:30am (while I was driving to work on the Interstate one morning)

4. Running across Hwy. 72 in front of Blairland Baptist Church (in Loudon) in broad daylight at about 4 in the afternoon

5. Running across Steekee Road about fifteen yards from the Steekee/Hwy 72 intersection (just after dark)

6. Sitting in the grass at the side of Parkside Drive in Knoxville, just watching traffic pass (just after dark.)

and yet not once - despite camera phones, etc. - have we managed to get a single picture of one. Good job!

My neighbor said he's seen them here in Hermitage. Personally I haven't but I know over the years some cats that have been killed or close to it and we figure it's either stray dogs or coyotes.

I live in the north side of Powell, and I hear coyotes howling in the hills up towards Heiskell (east of Oak Ridge) all the time... haven't seen them in the subdivision yet, but there are coyote roadkills on I-75 between Merchants and Emory Rd every now and then.

They have greatly reduced the stray cat population in my section of Knox county, a welcome event.

I could add more to the store. We saw the first one, turned around to go back just in case we would see it again, saw it again twice. Then didn't see it again then spotted the smaller one. I was driving so I could not use my camera. :) The bigger one was on my side 2 of the passes and I was very close and it was leaving the scene but I got a good enough look to know with out a doubt it was bigger then this one.

Great picture!! Were they close to the reservation?

Yup, see that fence in the background. that is the DOE fence for Y12 area. after a few minutes it cross in.

I was unarmed as we had just came from Clark Park, no firearms, DOE property and it is properly posted with a gun buster. It is not a city park so it does not have to contain the city posting, just a gun buster.

I suspected as much. I bet the federal wildlife guys turned a bunch of these guys loose on the reservation. They have plenty of protection and "no hunting".

We live relatively close (...about 10 miles away...), and i am seeing more signs of them around. Several larger varmints run over in the road that are dog like; but not dogs have been seen on the back side of the ridge where we live. My problem with them is we have "favored" an animal that is no no real use, and endangered both domestic pets, cattle, sheep, goats, and my ole buddies the racoons and possums for these varmints.

Only a bunch of short sighted, over-priviledged ninnies would think that introducing a predator that has no real enemies at the top of the food chain would be a good idea. We need to get rid of the d**n federal wildlife bureauclowns too!

Wait until one of these guys takes hold of someone's pet on the running trail by Melton Hill or (...God forbid...) clamps on to a small child somewhere. Then we will re-learn why they were "extinct" in this part of the country. My guess is that folks are already experiencing "unexplained dissappearances" of pets in this area already; especially small dogs and cats.

This is the second time we saw them, about 3 years ago, we saw 3 at the railroad tracks near Y12 Credit Union in Oak Ridge. It was around the same time, some had been reported to the news as being seen around the Golf Course.

If you mean Centennial GC, I've seen coyotes there years ago.

Hand me the pitching wedge and the .223 please.

Since I live here I can make this comment: Did they have 3 eyes or two heads? :)

No but they had a green aura around them.
