The Trump for president?

Recommended Posts

Guest HvyMtl

LOL. No OS, not what I said at all.

I find it sad that a Reality TV Star, who has not held up to his responsibility and accountability (bankruptcy 3 times) is even being considered a candidate.

True, he may be "closer" to what the Fore Fathers "had in mind," due to the fact he is not a politician. But only that. I doubt any Founding Father would vote for such a man, who, again bankrupted 3 times, had that many divorces, etc.

Heck, I see no candidates the Fore Fathers would vote for. But, then, they did not have to go through all the B.S. the candidates have to do today. (Another part of the system which is broken...)

At least Trump may be able to raise the estimated $1 BILLION the 2012 campaign will cost. But pushing for the fringe vote (birthers) is not what he should be running on. He should be pushing how "great" a business man he is... And yet, he is not...

heh, yes back in the olden days there was no premarital sex, gays didn't exist and no one cheated on their wives.

And the media is to blame.

People emulate what they see, eh? So, in the good old days, when crime was higher, people watched ADam 51 or whatever and did good stuff and now they do bad stufff because they watch Dancing with the Stars or something.

This sounds suspiciously like the anti gun argument. If we take away guns no one will kill anyone. If we take away objectionable TV no one will copy it.

When I was a kid the three stooges were on TV all the time. I, nor anyone I knew, ever put their head in a steam press. But I get what you're saying, it is all tv's fault.

Here is the real problem: people want the government to pay for about a third more than taxes bring in. In a moralistic society which third gets cut? You cut social security where people have paid in for years and years? Perhaps you prefer to cut the military and not protect the country? Both unpalatable? I concur. So we should eliminate medicare and medicaid and let poor and old people die off like crazy.

It turns out there are no easy (meaningful) cuts. Tea party folks think that you can cut the social benefits thing and solve the problem but cry out "Don't touch my Medicare" Liberals think "if we spent all that money we spend on bombing and killing people on building bridges and overpasses in the US we'd be fine" Which also wouldn't work.

I don't see how being a moralistic country and playing endless episodes of Andy Griffith is going to get us out of debt. But I could be wrong,

I like one comment I heard about Trump, "P.T. Barnum with a bad combover."

The revolutionary era was wild and wooly with lots of drinking and womanizing. Morality seemed generally considered something different than merely abstaining from a good time.

Later on the Victorian era got steam and most folks got straight-laced and publicly moralistic by the mid-18th century. It goes in cycles.

When you think you deserve something, you

usually don't. Social spending is geared for

dependency and people who fall into the trap

lose their self reliance and become slaves with

nothing to look toward to except death and a

bag of popcorn.

Without most of the social spending there be no

need for an income tax for welfare spending and the

like, which is the largest item of the government

budget.

Trump may not be the right one for the job, but

he says what's on his mind, instead of political

doublespeak. I like that. And I like his attitude

about fighting abroad, not nation building. He is

more of what this country stands for than most

politicians.

The founders did envision professional politicians

and encouraged civilian activity to keep government

small. That's what needs to happen now. I hope

Trump means what he says, because he says

the right things. If this country was run more like

a business and had to account for itself to the

public, it would look a lot different.

Think about it this way. Trump is doing both the Republican (...and Libertarian...) parties a great service. He is doing the usual "over the top" stuff that "real polititians" (...weenies that most of them are...) are afraid to do. He is calling Nobama out on everything (...exactly what i think the repubs sould do, by the way...) and givin him hell on every issue.

There is no doubt in my mind that Nobama is hiding something with the birth certificate issue; and i dont think it is "foreign born". I think he is listed as "caucasion". If that gets out, he will take a hit in the black community (...which he is busy courting now for 2012...).

I like Trump. He is stirring up the political pot and making things easier for Republican and Libertarian candidates. I think it is hilarious that Trump is doing in his spare time what the "real polititians" should be doing full time --- "...Goin right after Nobama head on on everything...". Trump doesnt worry about who he might offend.

The current crop of "real polititians" in the Republican party should take a page from Trump's playbook and get to work on the "Great Hope and Change Demigogue". They need to start doin what Trump is doin; instead of telling him to shut up.

I say cheer him on!!! Sick 'em Donald!!!

He does put them to shame. Maybe they will learn something or be forced out.

Trump is doing a service.

Just think of the version Bloomberg would have.

Mr. Doublespeak, and he may still be having thoughts of running. I certainly

hope not. That man makes me sick.

I think Pawlenty is good on the 2A. Anybody heard anything (serious) that The Donald has said about it?

I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun. With today’s Internet technology we should be able to tell within 72-hours if a potential gun owner has a record.

He probably will back off this now.

I hope he's changed his mind since 2000 (AWB). I'd like for him to get off the Birther topic. It's a losing battle and he'll just get branded as a loon. I'm kinda starting to like the idea of Trump. Of course I'd vote for my dog before I'd ever vote for Barry.

Yeh, I don't like that AWB statement at all, but the

birther stuff is okay with me and it is scaring the

heck of them(dems) proving they don't want to see

"caucasian" or something else.

He is a publicity hog anyway and it furthers whatever

his goal is and that might not be being President, after

all. I think he may be stirring some Republicans up too.

Mark Levin just spilled the beans on Trump and his donations to liberal democrats during the Tea Party uprising. You can listen to any of his shows anytime on his web site, todays show will be up later tonight.

Trump is a business man. He has to bribe the party in power to stay in business. If you don't "DONATE" they will send in the inspectors to shut you down. Yes,Trump has went bankrupt 3 times. But he did'nt keep spending money he did'nt have. He worked his way back up. If a man like that aint who we need right now than who is?

Trump brings media blitz to NBC, ‘steamrolls’ Meredith Vieira on birther issue - Yahoo! News if l;ink doesnt work, its Donald Trump interview from the Today show with Meredith

Nakes some good points about making americans proud to be Americans again.

Dont know if hes the right man for the job either, but he has some very good experience in the corporate world instead of the cesspool of Chicago politics. Hope it doesnt end up being another Ross Perot "divide and conquer" campaigain

He has made and lost several fortunes and is a super marketing guy, it would seem. But from what I see and read, he is likely too controversial for a run, but we can't tell anymore. Maybe we need a candidate from no political background or prior aspirations. I do like some of what he says - what a lot of folks likely think, e.g. being held hostage by foreign governments and not having the guts to tell them to back off, pride in America, and the like.

... Yes,Trump has went bankrupt 3 times. ...

The Donald himself has never been bankrupt. A couple of his casinos or whatever did, meaning one or two corporations out of many. Maybe he was down to a few hundred million or so of personal wealth instead of the 3 billion he's worth now, but that's just part of the risk of big biz, eh?

Seeing as how the USA is quickly going bankrupt (actually it has been bankrupt for quite awhile, but the gov continues to kite checks and pretend that everything is OK)-- Maybe we could benefit from an expert veteran of bankruptcy to preside over the demise.

OTOH, if the gov should be "run like a biz" maybe it wouldn't be a good idea to hire a CEO who has run companies into the ground so many times already?

Edit: In hindsight it is easy to see how it may have been a mistake to elect Obama, a man who never could balance his own personal checkbook very well in most of his adult life. Similarly, in hindsight it could appear a mistake to elect Trump considering how many bankruptcies he has been thru.

Trump is a celebrity. I will not vote for him for that reason alone. Call me what you will for admitting that... but the man is no different the that fat cow Rossie.

I don't really like anything he has said politicality either. Seems as soon as he does say something halfway worth wild, he screws it up with something crazy. meh...

The problem is, our form of gov only works in a moralistic society, which we no longer are. The only way that would change is if media went back more towards Andy Griffith show and less towards porn. People emulate what they see.

I swear I laugh at this every time I hear someone say it.

People have been having sex without marriage since the beginning of time.

Men have been poking each other and women have been rubbing things together long before the teevee was ever invented. The only difference now is we're more open to talking about it.

If you want to blame our openness to all things adult, then thank your parents, since you're 28. It was their "free love" generation that opened up all of the taboo 'morility' topics.

To be honest, I can't imagine Trump as president, but for all those who say electing Obama was a mistake, I have a bit of a different perspective...

Under Bush, spending was out of control and none of the measures we needed to take to avoid economic downfall were put in place. Now imagine if we had elected someone more fiscally moderate than Obama - 99% of Americans would continue on shopping while the country went to economic hell. Obama's 'Bush-on-steroids' spending policies have awakened many who slept through the last eight years and likely would have continued sleeping.

They say it darkest just before dawn (which makes no sense to me outside of someone looking for a cheery cliché, but whatever) and I think that Obama has finally awakened sleep-walking conservatives all over to the dangers of drunken-sailor spending like we've seen over the last decade. It's sad it's taken such a slap in the face to make people sit up and realize just how stupid our economic policies have been for so long, but finally people are talking about it and realizing the destructive nature of our habits - I don't think these conversations would have happened had the fire continued to slowly increase beneath the pot of water...

So while it's too early to proclaim Obama as the worst president early (he's making a good bid, mind you, but FDR and Wilson each have a strong hand), I believe his election and policies have brought us to the (necessary) tipping point where we, as a people, decide if we want to continue to blaze our own path based on individual liberties (both personal and fiscal) or follow the policies of the old world (Europe) which lead, inevitably imo, to destruction of those liberties.

Our collective reaction to Obama's policies will determine our future. Much better than sitting distracted in the pot while the heat is slowly turned up until it's too late.

I don't think we would be having the necessary discussions we're having on such a widespread scale had someone more moderate been elected. I do believe we're probably past the tipping point and rough times are ahead, but hopefully the awakened and re-energized conservatives will remain true to their core and get this country on the right path.

Donald Trump is a shameless self-promoter. His current Presidential bid is just more of teh same. Notice that he has yet to actually spend any of his own money. Rather, he has used his celebrity status to get a lot of free publicity. He knows that there are many people out there who are awed by celebrities, and are willing to overlook a poor record and invest a lot of time and money as long as they can say it was a 'Trump' project.

Donald has always come out ahead. He is a huge risk-taker, but has always been careful to use other people's money in his projects. Rarely does he actually use a significant amount of his own wealth for one of his projects. To me, that is the major reason why I cannot support his bid for the Presidency. When you add in his previous support for a variety of liberal causes, Nancy Pelosi, Obama, government health care, and gun control, that just seals the deal. Donald Trump? Just say 'NO!'

Yeah, that bankruptcy stuff, he did not personally bankrupt, but he sure stuck it to his investors and those who believed in him... Yup, perfect Presidential material there...

Now he's babbling on about how terrible Dubya was. Just as bad as any staunch Democrat.

How about telling us about YOU Trump, instead of attacking a Former President and the Present one...

I think he won't pass muster, as his business dealings (gambling casinos, real estate leasing) smacks of one who has had to deal with several ne'er do wells...

I don't think a candidate known primarily for his personal wealth will play with all the (even more than usual) poor in either metro or urban areas.

Of course, should he actually run as an independent as he threatens, could be enough alone to swing the election for the Dems, so he could be a real factor, albeit a negative one for the GOP, which I'm already caring less about than even I predicted.

They're talking that this will be the first billion dollar election (Obama), although I though that was about the price of the last one. Anyway, Trump could spend that from his own pocket if he wants to go all in.
