Hello,

I am brand new to this website and am currently trying to decide on my first handgun purchase. I wanted to keep it under $400 if possible and the best choices I've found are the Sig Sauer P250, Taurus Millenium Pro, and the Ruger src9(actually $440).

I like the P250 the best and was just wondering if there's anyone out there who has one or has fired one that could give me some feedback....thanks

I have a 250 2Sum, which includes a subcompact and a full size pistol sharing the same trigger module. I'm a big Sig fan having had a 226 since the early 90's and more recently the 238, 220, 250 and Mosquito.

I prefer the DA/SA (Double Action/Single Action) of the classic Sigs as opposed to the DAO (Double Action Only) of the 250. That being said, the 250 is a great shooter and a great value. If you like the trigger on revolvers then the DAO of the 250 will feel very natural. It took me a bit of getting used to, but I like it.

I've not tried the other pistols mentioned so I can't comment on them. My advice is that you find the pistols you are interested in and handle them to see which fit your hand the best. If you can test shoot them, all the better. The pistol you are most comfortable with is the right one.

thanks Mike, I've just read alot about how bad/long the trigger pull is. I'm not gonna be putting thousands of rounds thru it but just wanted something consistent and reliable.

I've discovered that its very tough to get everything that I want in a gun for $400 or less. I'm not apposed to a DA/SA gun either. Any suggestions of compact handguns that you might know that might be DA/SA would be helpful. I'm pretty sure I will like the 250 but I'm just trying to be thorough.

If you're interested in a compact with SA/DA you might consider the P239. You might be able to pick one up used for a bit more than $400. Even used SA/DA Sigs run for $550 or so. They are, however, a good investment. If your looking for a plastic Sig that a bit bigger than compact you might look for the Sig Pro 2022. It's SA/DA and can be found new in the $430 range. G&L in Hendersonville has them at about that price.

As long as you like the trigger on the 250, you'll love it. I got used to the trigger. It's a long pull but very smooth and with a clean break. I normally keep mine in the Sub configuration and carry it when the 220 that's my EDC is a bit too difficult to conceal but I don't want to go as small as the 238. I have a High Noon IWB tuckable and even in the most casual clothes it conceals very well. Despite its small size, it still will carry 12+1 +P+ Federals.

I have a P250c. It's got around 1500 rds on it. I would recommend it. The price is good and it has never once had a problem. It is a DAO trigger, but mine is verrry smooth. It's definitely a shooter.

I like my SR9c a lot, but prefer my Sigs, principally because of the DA/SA. I have 220, 225, 226, 228, 230 & 2022.

I'd recommend the Sig Sp2022. Probably the best DA/SA trigger on any Sig and you can get one right around the $400 number.

The 250's lost some major government contracts because of reliability issues. I don't own one because I don't like the trigger, but plenty of people love 'em, and they do offer some options for changing frame sizes if you can find the conversions kits.
