The 10 most segregated urban areas in America - War Room - Salon.com

As I expected when I clicked on this, it references the south (making a reference to jim crow laws and such) then moved on to tell us that all 10 of these citys are NOT IN THE SOUTH. So us gun totin' bigots with our jim crow laws and racist ways are not even in the top 10, not even good ole' atlanta made the cut.

Not really news, but always good to see us not living up to our reputation.

Note that it does not slam on the south, just mentions it as what you think of when you hear about segregation, its fair enough.

Yet we southerners are still considered the racists...

Crazy huh? Un-educated people are the ones saying that... This proves them wrong

I read two of the articles in the slideshow and both seemed to make a point of painting the white man as evil and uncaring. So I didn't read the other 8. Probably because I'm evil and uncaring.

That is a great dumb article. There's a black guy that lives on the other end of the hallway as me. Segregation is alive and well in my apartment complex. :tough:

A black gentleman I became acquainted with a couple of years ago had traveled through all the states extensively. I asked him where he felt the most racial biased areas of the country were. He said without it was north. Said that even if folks in the south were prejudice, the were still nice to you.

in my experiance, the deep south (AL, GA) is not very racist. The places in the north I have lived arn't bad.

I have to be honest the most racist place I have ever seen is here in east TN. I have met many people who dont just joke around and make comments that make me grumble, but are actually 'he better not get near my daughter or else' racist.

makes me really sad.

...but ya, this article is about segregation, which is very different than racism. not at all surprised at the findings there.

I think it's laughable that a bunch of chumps like those who run Salon would rat out their own brothers and sisters on the left coast, the rustbelt, and the northeast. It must be a simple case of "self loathing" by the "best and brightest" among us--HEHEHE.

Segregation and "Jim Crow" has been over for quite a while; but the earstwhile leaders of these "bastions of tolerance" evidently aint got the message yet. I thought that all these city fathers and their pimps were the "best and brightest" and those who were "colorblind". Silly me!! All the while i thought they were working on a "colorless working man's utopia". I must have missed something. "...Sounds to me like "tha man" is keepin the brothers (...and sisters...) down; man...". Looks to me like that Nobama and company ought to start using some of them "New Reconstruction" tactics on these places. Where's Eric Holder when ya need him?

Thanks for posting this interesting info.

After seeing things you only see in stereotypes of "southern racism" of the 50's on display in modern Idaha, Oreagon, Washington (state), Illionois (Chicago) and New York I fully realize the south is the least racist place in the US.

I can confirm that data. I lived there for 37 years. No city I have ever been to is segragated as much and I mean EVERY ethnic segment.

New York being Number 2. Seems the Mayor against Guns, needs to fix this more urgent problem in his own city before he trys to take on things in other states.

Typical example of liberal ignorance. The left loves to point fingers, but doesn't look in their own backyard. In an ironic way, Jim Crow, as wrong as it was, actually helped to integrate the South while in the northern urban areas, policies like "redlining" and "urban development" created the urban ghetto and a social condition that makes it harder for blacks and other low-income people to gather the resources needed to escape the pit of hell that they call home.
