Illinois and New York state were the "birthplace" of repressive handgun permit laws. It is, indeed, interesting that these guys have changed their minds. I never dreamed that Illinois would turn into a "shall issue" handgun permit state!!

This is either a heinous April fool joke or some of the best news we've heard from the "rustbelt" in a long time. The Illinois house is 54/54 demorat/republican and 35/24 demorat/republican in the senate. This is interesting stuff!!!

Try VPC's website, you will get all the skewed info there. If you look at how many people people with permits have killed with a legally carried firearm in public, the number is under 20 people in the past 15 years, if I remember correctly. The problem is the VPC puts anyone with a carry permit into the same category if they killed ANYONE with any weapon, at home, in public, or anywhere. Even if you take it at face value, there's been just over 300 murders in the past 15 years from a group of around 10 million carry permits in the US. I think that number is amazing to begin with, and if you actually go down to what the real numbers are, the % is like .00000000001% of permit holders murder someone with a firearm where they have to have a permit to carry. But the VPC doesn't want to publish that because it would make them look very silly.

I think it's what has been said. A whole lot of the state is made up of normal folks with normal lifestyles. Then, you have the huge population center in the north that controls everything. There is a ton of corruption scattered around. I have spent a lot of time in that state. Married one girl from there, and bought and sold several handguns there in the old days.

Maybe they need to actually do the background check when they give out HCPs. But that would probably eliminate half of Chicago's residents.

I keep hoping, but don't have much faith. It doesn't bother them to be the only state that doesn't allow carry. They're as bad as California.
