Chad Kandros (Kandros Customs Gunworks) is the gunsmith for this 1911. He has been studying and working with Sam Hoster for the past few years. Chad has graciously agreed to take on this project as I tend to bring on my custom jobs along in phases. For now its the basic grip safety, thumb safety, and rear sight work. I like to do it that way so I can run the gun hard and make sure that we're going in the right direction.

Once we get to its final working configuration - - - Chad will have the opportunity to perform some of his tasteful "artwork" to this example of JMB's masterpiece.

I will be starting a new thread on the gunsmithing section of the forum that will give the details and track the progress of this 1911.

Great looking pistol, too pretty to shoot! I had a .38 Super 1911 a few years ago, great shooting gun. I stuck a 9mm barrel in it and using the same mags and recoil setup it worked pretty good. I was always going to do more with it but someone talked me out of it. I'll be waiting for your updates in the gunsmithing section. Again, great effort.

.... I hope you ceremoniously burn those pearl grips.

Even better.

The seller agreed to drop his shipping charge when I suggested that he could keep his "Custom Pink Pearlite Grips" (his ad copy) in exchange for free shipping. Told him that I would take the lost over the grips and that he could just install the Colt rubbers and ship it that way. :screwy:

Truth was I feared that my transfer FFL would laugh me out of his shop had the seen those pearl handle grips.

Besides, those grips really didn't go with the Gold Inlaid & Gold grip screws. :D

Burn the Pearls................Nice 1911, I have a series 70 never shot that I am thinking very hard about breaking it in. im not much on letting guns sit in the safe.
