Today is the 100th year anniversary of the adoption of the 1911 as the official sidearm of the US military.

Post your favorite 1911 related pics.

Here is one of mine:

Are you saying you go both ways?

I'm so tired of the print and TV media's fascination with 1911's that I could spit nickels. Every gun magazine (except Handloader) has at least one 1911 article and one AR article per month. I was going to subscribe to Handloader at the end of my trial subscription, but darned if they didn't devote half of the last issue to the anniversary of the 1911. :D

The only reason I plan on buying 1911's is because everyone has convinced me that no collection is complete without a 1911. Otherwise, I just don't "get it"

Well, I guess before you could celebrate this anniversary for glock, it would have to first be adopted by the military. But we could celebrate it's manufacturing date........(well celebrate or mourn depending on your perception).:D

Well, could it be because about every manufacturer makes a 1911?????? That's a lot of advertising dollars to ignore.......no?

Some of my favorite guns are the brainchild of John Moses Browning... 1911's and of course my namesake... the Hipower.:D:cool:

+1 here. I Have two Colts that I proudly own, one stainless, the other, an Officer's model!

when I have everything else on my list, I'll get one

That being said, a buddy has several and I like them all, but I have other things on the list first

100 years is an accomplishment for sure, something must work

Went out and celebrated this evening...appropriately, of course. One Colt, one Springer in my collection. After I got my first one, the wife and my son both sent rounds downrange with it...they now each own their own. +1 to JMB!
