Pimp gun and Warhorse redux

gunrunner32 helped me out with my pair of recently acquired "very low" priced steel pistols. Pic of one was posted earlier on this forum as Momma's New Gun. Here are the pair in their before and after pictures. Some chrome was flaking off the Star and it had someone's engraving gun nonesense on the chrome too. The 1911 was a solid shooting parts build that my wife now calls "reptilian" looking after gunrunner32's clean up and treatment. I do like that pitting but on the flip side of that slide it is nearly like new for a 69 yr old Colt slide, bushing and barrel. Of course the Star retains all interior chrome and about 95% of exterior chrome under the finish.

100+ views, I guess no one was a fan of the final results. I personally think it was a great refinish with some good color choices. I personally enjoyed how the etchings on the Star turned out, we should of had a before picture of the etchings. I need to get better at that. Fashion statement or not, if it took all my guns being my wife's favorite color to get her to shoot, I'd consider it, thankfully she likes black and stainless on her guns. I can't wait for the next one.

Graycrait is a great guy and very knowledgable...for those of you out there that didn't already know that.

The little Star looks great, I had a plain blue one years ago very nice reliable pistol. The Colt, well I hope it shoots better than it looks .....

Yeah they look much much better.....i used to have a chrome star 9mm...wish i still did...great little gun....the colt has a lot of personality....i think I would probably have gone for a complete refinish, but its cool in that "used" kinda way...like its "seen some sh*t" :-D

Great job! I kinda like the rough finish on the Colt. Looks cool! The big thing is not necessarily what it looks like, but how it functions and shoots!
