Some things I protect with my guns

Recommended Posts

I have collected coins for a few years.

Here is one set and sub set I am rather fond of.

It is not complete yet The Half set is almost there.

These are Modern Commemorative if you have never seen them before. The US mint makes a few of these each year in different themes and sizes.

I have a collection. I never collected for value, but for fun, so its not all that. Ive got a near set of state quarters, almost a full set of silver quarters (that darn 27s or whatever it is... I cant afford that stuff), a pretty complete set of pennys from 1909 forward, and a ton of cool looking foreign coins (some silver, GI bring backs from ww1 and ww2) and other random stuff. I got into it as a bag boy in my teens, pulling in $10-$20 an hour in tips (mosty in quarters or handful of change). Only thing I ever found that was super sweet was a 63 quarter in very good condition. Got some $2 bills and other such too.

Never spent a penny on it, just took over a couple of collections from other sources + what I found along the way. Its in the safe, but honestly, its probably not worth the space it uses.

Favorite us coin is franklin half, no good reason just like the way it looks.

I did for a while, but kind of got out of it. I always wanted to get all of the silver eagle dollars, but with the price of silver through the roof, I sold the few I had and I'll start back up when they go back down.

I to have the Silver Eagles in MS and Proof. Nice set and yes they are all over priced right now due to silver prices. But I do look for silver to hit 50$ a ounce before it comes back down any large amount.

As yes a pure "collector" in non- slabed coins those are the best collections that produce the most fun and meaning. The Frankie is a very nice looking coin. To bad they had to stop producing those.

Now as to why I like the Modern Comms:

There are many kinds of SETS in coins one can build. I do like the Registry to help show and keep my coins in order and help me inventory. Plus to see what coins I need to buy to make a complete set.

Now with that said I think the MOCOMS “Modern Commemoratives” are one of the BEST sets.

Each year the mint makes a few different ones. So you end up with a set of coins that do not all look alike except for the date. It is not really a hard set to complete. It is rather big and even more so if you include the gold coins.

I only collect the 50 cent and dollar coins.

Some of my Favorites are the 1999 Dolly Madison
