Has anyone had experience with this optic? I am looking at the 1-4x model. I have seen some that do not have turret style adjustments and others that do have them. Is that later vs. Earlier production or is their a different model? I am looking for something to use in dark environment that has illuminated reticle that is thin enough to use on small targets at 100 yards. I can't pop for an ACOG right now.

They were all the hype a couple years ago, but I think I'd pass on them. A friend sent two of them back to Millett before giving up on them completely. BTW, I think there is a gen 1 and a gen 2, not two different models.

Maybe I lucked out, mine is still working well on my 3-Gun AR now going into its third summer of shooting.

Here is a great discussion of the DMS-1.

Millet DMS-1 1-4x24 scope ? - M4Carbine.net Forums

I really like the DMS-1's donut-dot reticle, its easy to pick up in quick and fast stages. I have mine mounted in an American Defense Recon Quick-Release Extended Scope Mount. I also added a R&R Racing Power Throw Lever that allows me to make speedy adjustments in magnification. And yup, I now have more invested in those two accessories than the cost of the scope.

Its no S&B Short Dot or US Optics SN-4, but for the money it gets the job done. Would I picked the DMS-1 over the S&B or SN-4 if going back into the fight - - - Well no, but then again Uncle Sam would have to recall me from the retired rolls and he had better let me play with the latest tac-cool stuff again.

Here is a pic of my daughter after shooting a COF with the DMS-1.
