I hate hens!

I hear ya and I also hate jakes. I went out the other day and called in 6 jakes. I'm thinking real hard about shooting one or 2.

Me and my uncle doubled today!

Glad someone is getting it done! I seem to be surrounded by tight lipped Toms and hundreds of hens! Real quite in my woods.

Na. Save em' for next year. And for me because I suck evidently :D .

Is it just me or do the jakes play quiet mouse when they come in. I've called in 5 or 6 this season and they never gobble. You'll just look and see'em coming. I'm thinking maybe the mature birds have them a little nervous.

The jakes came in at 6am yesterday with a gobbler. The gobbler wouldn't come into the decoys. We passed on the jakes and then they came back at about 10 so we took them.

Has anybody had frustrating times turkey huntin' lately? They're not gobbling much around here now. The last few times I've been they will gobble a little on the roost and thats about it. Most of the hens I think are on the nest and the gobblers seem to be not interested much. Last year around here it was better at this time. I killed a 3 year old gobbler on the morning before the last day. Right now its gonna be tough.

I have a good flock of birds on my property that I manage. I really don't care to hunt them because I suck at it. I'll kill some during bow season when they torment the snot out of me when I'm deer hunting. I hate the "dirt peckers" and really don't care to eat them....just the way it is.....

Ticks are really bad this year!

They really suck this year.

They have been bad this year... no gobbling but the ticks are everywhere.

I went ahead and did another permitherin treatment on my hunting clothes... pretty much stopped the ticks.... didn't help a bit w/ the thunder chickens tho.

I refuse to quit! I hunted morning and evening yesterday. So many close calls, just no sealed deal. Gonna hit it hard this weekend and I am not above any legal means.
