I have a Springfield 1911a1 stainless chambered in .40sw I was wishing someone could give me some info. I believe it is the champion model. I have never seen another one and the dealers i've talked to at the gunshows have never seen one either. I was just wondering if this is a caliber that never caught on with the public so springfield discontinued it or what. Any info will be appreciated. TIA

I'm in big trouble if .40 S&W is discontinued because its not "popluar"

No fears rdl, .40 S&W is going to be around a long time. 1911s in calibers other than .45 are becoming more popular so you may have gotten in on one of their first attempts. Springfield Armory makes a great pistol.

How did it make its way to you? That might provide some info on the history of the pistol.

The Champion is considered one of the better pistols out there. Here are some testing results (albeit in .45) against the likes of Les Baer and Rock River Arms.

I think Springfield replaced the Champion with the "loaded" series.
