I don't have a .17 HMR pistol, but I do have an H&R Sportster in that caliber, and it is an extremely accurate rifle. The round is hot and flat shooting, and is very powerful for such a small hunk of lead... I just wonder whether the short barrel of a revolver is sufficient to get the kind of performance that the round is capable of. Each gun is different, but mine really likes the Remington .17 grain premier polymer tips and the CCI .17 grain TNT hollowpoints. It does not do as well with the 20 grain Hornady hollowpoints (that said, it still shoots sub-half-inch groups at 100 yards).

Be sure to check out rimfirecentral.com and 17hmr.net for more info on the "hummer."
