He says at 50 yards he can hit a metal pie plate 9 times out of 10 free handed.

He has invited me over to shoot it in a few weeks. I will report on it when I get some trigger time on it.

Take a 9†pie pan with you. Step off 50 yards. Hand him 10 rounds. Report back on how many holes are in the pie pan.

If there are 9/10 holes in it you are in the presence of a pretty damn good shot. If he won’t do it or you have to listen to a bunch of stories about why there aren’t 9/10 holes in it he just blowing smoke up your…..Well you get the idea.

It's not the gun, it's the shooter. ANY quality handgun should be capable of hitting clay pigeons at 100 yards if the shooter does his part. I've done it with 1911s, Browning HiPowers, and CZ-75s. It's just a matter of practice.

And the argument is NOT about energy. The argument is about ending the battle. The most reliable way to accomplish that is to let lots of red stuff out. The 5.7 up close has impressive penetration, and the combat rounds we aren't allowed to have are purported to have good fragmentation. That's fine for the government dudes with taxpayer-funded equipment. Since I can't easily acquire the good ammunition, that's a strike against the caliber. I'll continue to go with large, deep holes that let lots of red stuff out. That's why I still favor .357mag, 10mm, .400Corbon, .357Sig, and .45acp 185gr rounds.

The FiveSeven is a decent gun but I would not say it is the best gun. My wife likes it because it is not heavy like a 1911, HK or what not, plus the safety and slide is easy for her to operate. I would have preferred if she liked another gun. Posives for the gun are capacity, non-existent recoil, accuracy, great controls, and light weight. Negatives are, lack of reliablity (mine light strikes alot, maybe it is ammo),super tiny round, not great availibility of ammo. Either way it is a great gun to own if you find one at around $500 :(

or in other words ,.. at least at handgun velocities smaller rounds may expand but larger rounds never shrink,.. thats why you hunt with broadheads.. stopping a fight is like sinking a ship bigger holes are better unless your the ship

Most people can’t hit a 4 1/4 “ diameter target at 100 yards with a handgun in a rest. You want them to do it off hand while the target is flying through the air?

Now WHERE do I mention anything about MOVING targets? What most people can or cannot do is irrelevant to this discussion. What is relevant is that the pistol can do it. If the pistol can do it, then the rest is up to the shooter. And most people COULD hit a (stationary) clay pigeon at 100 yards using a decent handgun with proper practice.

Anybody can own legally any type of Ammo for this gun, AP or whatever. the problem is 1 round of the AP stuff is about $10.+!

I apologize for assuming that when you said “hitting clay pigeons at 100 yards†they were flying through the air.

Most people on here would be satisfied with hitting a 4†circle at 100 yards with a scoped rifle. :D

Five Seven is probably a great gun, I've never shot it, but I think it's ugly as anything. My brother has the FNp series .40 cal, shoots great and is a lot easier on the eyes.
