Hi

Do all revolvers or most made within the past 15 or 20 years have transfer bars with the firing pin inside instead of the firing pin on the hammer?

I take that back, I think Rossi makes them still with pin on hammer, though dont know how good Rossis are. Seems funny to me without the firing pin on the hammer, but what do I know.

My Rossi .38 that I bought in Sept 1994, manufactured in Dec. 1993, has the firing pin on the hammer.

I much prefer the transfer bar. Can load six that way and not have to worry so much about the empty cylinder thing.

mike, if you look in front of the hammer there is a bar that comes up between the hammer and firing pin to prevent the hammer from contacting the pin unless the

trigger is fully pulled. even my 1975 s&w model has this.

isn't that what I was referring to?

not sure mike, the s&w model 36 has a hammer mounted firing pin which could contact the cartridge in a fully loaded cylinder. s&w uses a firing pin block to prevent accidental contact.

in a frame mounted firing pin with transfer bar the firing pin is spring loaded to prevent accidental discharge in a fully loaded cylinder. not sure about other makes. you know it took five minutes to type this out with two fingers. got to figure out what those other 8 fingers are supposed to be doing.
