Mars I would like to shoot that smokepole , bring it if it is not trouble. I will be bringing some of the cap and ball stuff. Don't need to use the Pyro now as I scored some fff BP yesterday  up in Greenville. A place called Hearthstone. I wish I had time to spend looking around there a bit, all I had was enough time to run in and make my purchase and get back on the road again.

I will try to not forget the pop-up canopy tomorrow. It almost always scares the rain away. :D

PM replied too, and yeah we may be needing that canopy. :) Thanks for the chair reminder Mars.

I'll have to dig out my camp chair, then.

Hi Guys

Cody, to answer your question, about 60, I think. Been a while.

Hope it doesn't rain on you guys!

Black Powder - If Sue will dig them out, and you want to try, I have a couple flintlock pistols. One (boarding pistol) is more of a blunderbuss, actually. Even has a folding bayonet. You may need 4f for the priming pans, though, so if you don't want to fool with it... OTOH, if you do, let me know so I can call Sue.

On late watches here now, regret the reply delay.

Shoot straight!

Sorry guys, I'm unable to go. AS I'm sure Dave has told you by now, I seem to be sick again. I woke up, not feeling very well. Nauseous, sore, and a slight headache. It's just been getting worse since, even though I went back to sleep. Now it feels like I've been beat with a bat during my sleep, but I don't feel nauseous or have a headache anymore.

Did anyone go today????....We want details....

Well Boom, we could tell you, but then we would have to kill you.

I will say we handled a rocket launcher and a couple of other goodies.

Other than that and Mexican food all info is classified.

All I can say is we found the Covenant of the Ark. And Mars has it. Oh God now I've said too much...

I have a few pictures. I repeat - few. As soon as I get around to unpacking the car, I'll post them.

We spent much of the day beating up guns with a hammer. Probably shouldn't say more. :D

Reconfirmed that American Ammunition, the really inexpensive stuff out of Miami, is crap. Also that some guns, even expensive ones, still don't like Wolf ammo.

We confirmed some bullet speeds with my Chrony. Found out that Mikes BP revolver can produce speeds in excess of 2000 fps. But that may just be some of the smoke particles rather than the bullet.

I brought a machine gun, but it only produced a projectile speed of around 150 fps. It is an Airsoft btw.

We also found out that a WWI 38 S&W with about a 30 pound trigger pull can still hit the target.

Yes, we did have military rocket launchers You can guess who brought those. Unfortunately, we were lacking in projectiles for them.

One local guy who I know came with a decent gun. He brought his H&K USP 40c. He's already a lurker on the board. Hopefully he will register soon.

Mike's EZup shelter came in handy for a while but the beginning and end of the day was dry. We also found out that water runs downhill.

In retrospect I think it was the grits. I have to say I never knew they could fly that fast. I guess thats what they mean when they say instant grits. :D

Yall missed it, we had a great time yesterday!

Even the rain delay did not dampen the event. The pop-up canopy kept us dry and we told lies, examined firearms and got to spend some time together.

I was able to chrono two black powder loads. The '58 Remington was sailing lead at an average 846 fps using 30 gr fff and a .454 ball. The '51 Navy was a bit slower as expected with only 780 fps due to the 20 grain load and a .451 ball. Either way it is plenty potent. Besides that it is hard to top the spark and smoke show that comes with shooting these types of guns.

Joe it was nice meeting/shooting with you. That HK is sweet.

Dotsuns AK was a shooter! And we got to make fun of his AR, so that was good!

Just kidding they are both nice rifles. For me personally the hi-lite of the day was shooting Mars' .38 S&W. I never thought I would shoot a near 100 year old gun, it was a real moment. The trigger pull is the heaviest I have ever felt, its pretty stout, but still the gun would stay on sight as it actioned.

We all got to go through Marswolf's traveling gun show box of goodies. I think we all scored something. I got a unbelievable bipod that fits perfect on the Savage bolt rifle I was sighting in yesterday. There was all kinds of great stuff.

It was a big day

Damnit, I hate being sick. Not only did I feel like I had been beaten with a baseball bat many times, I missed all of this!

Posted

Oh yeah, the Secret Gray Box O' Trading Truth. They all got bargains. I got cash so I can buy more beer. :D

Well, the salary does help.....

The rain event only helped the spirits. I lie. We got cold. But warmed back up again. There really was esprit de corps, partially due to the rain. We became buddies.

I'D GO ANYWHERE WITH THESE GUYS. Well, at least I'd go to a Mexican restaurant with them. :D

Cody, I think you were just afraid to meet me. JUST KIDDING!

We did talk about starting a topic..."Marswolf hates you because.....". :(

Yeah, I woke up feeling like I'd been worked over by a baseball bat. Gave Dave a call and went back to sleep. Woke up around 10 and felt like I'd been stabbed THEN beat by some rather large bikers. Fun. I couldn't eat all day (I would get physically sick), and can just barely eat today.

Really, it sucked. I'm hungry enough to eat the entire cow, but if I try to eat more than a little I start feeling sick. I got over the pain, but I'm still pretty sick. And I just got off of antibiotics too :(

Guys, I'm glad to hear that you all had fun!

I took Saturday off and went to the local gunshow that was held here...

I MUST say that folks here like firearms. the line to get in was stretched around the building.

I bought 500 rounds of .45 ammo, a really nifty drag bag for one of the rifles, and another magazine for Julie's Sig Mosqito...Oh, and I got a Springfield Armory shirt.

I did see something that made me think of Marswolf, so I got permission and took a picture for you all.

:(

I'll be home (as far as I know) on the 28th...

if I described those symptoms pertaining to me I would call it a hangover!

Glocks have no soul. really that is the trouble with them.

I'll second that, Mike...

I looked around to see if I could get ahold of an imbel upper for my parts kit too...no luck..

but I DID find a no drill scope mount for both a mauser K98 and a M44 Mosin Nagant...

what do you think of THAT? :(

let me know if you want the info for the scope mount :D
