Wow, I can't believe I'm posting this. Walked intoa brick wall at one of their 35 stores today, a big (and I mean big) gunbusters sign on the front door.

Well I do an awful lot of work for them so I called the DM and was told "we are not proscuting anyone, the AM just wanted the signs up to remind employees they can't carry"

I let him know that even if 1) a customer sees a gun and calls the cops or 2) a cop is shopping and happens to see someone with a gun they are going to jail.

He told me that he did not know that and that was not thier intentions and that policy might change if enough voices were heard on the matter.

So, your mission, should you decide to accept it is to call 423-746-0022 and lodge a complaint about the gun buster signs and let them know you are not going into the stores as long as the signs stay up. They have already been getting calls so I kow they are wavering. :D

I'll update once I have better news.

Well this is just weird. I posted this in one section and find it in another section.

I thought listings of off limits places went in the other area.

Mod moved it.

The other area, only originator (and mods) can post.

Sounded like your call for action might elict some follow ups, so one of them moved it here for that reason, I'd say.

Makes sense but no one has bothered to post anything here. Maybe gun lovers don't shop @ UGO?

I had never heard of them, but see that we indeed have one store in Knoxville.

edit: after looking at map, I've been by that store a jillion times through many years; little funky lookin' place that I never thought to even stop and look around in.l

Explained as well, if not better, than I guess I should have done when I moved it.

The Carry Prohibited Locations Sub-Fourm is really supposed to just be for notifing of posted locations for a searchable database and not for discussion and commentarry etc.... as laid out this post http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/carry-prohibited-locations/41564-faq-how-sub-forum-works.html

Keeping meaning to go through and clean the whole sub-forum up.

That's one of the worst "looking" stores they have, they started out as a "salvage" operation in the early 80's (I think). Sometimes they have a bunch of good deals, others not so much. They are a great bunch of folks, and I'm sure this will go away. But was just trying to "help it along" LOL

Well that's what I thought the other thread was to be used for. I posted it there just because that's where all the bad places go. I was going to update it once I got more intel.

Any way, thanks for putting it in the right place for me.

Yeah, after getting more info etc... definetly post it back in the other sub-forum.

I admit, I might be a bit anal on that sub-forum sometimes in trying to keep the post more uniform etc....but my own fault for getting behind in watching it and finding time to go through them all.

I have shopped their stores in N.C. but was not aware they had any in Tn. I'll pass along my displeasure with their posting!

Yea they actually started in a little red hip roof building right in Etowah.

I do their security work so this is gonna make it harder for me to do my job.

Yeah, I pulled through the parking lot of the one on 411 on the north side of Madisonville and there it was on the door, big and ugly as all get out.

Yea, it's got to be the biggest one I've seen actually posted. Makes no sense.

What started this is a stupid employee went to work in madisonville and pulled off his coat and shot himself in the foot. Well he was fired and then this crap comes up.

Drove by the one in Oak Ridge yesterday and saw that it is still posted. You can see the dang sign from the turnpike it's so big.

The ugo store in Alcoa was posted but the sign was taken down a few weeks ago. It think is was posted for about a month.

Ok,

Spoke with one of the District managers. Seems they are getting too many complaints and the signs are COMMING DOWN. They will be removed soon from all stores. The owner is very pro gun and his second in command made this decision and the boss is not happy with the amount of response he is getting from this issue.
