Yeah, I guess a law allowing residents is better than nothing, but not sure why wouldn't want it to apply to others as well.

I believe what is commonly called "Constitutional carry" will eventually be a reality in Tennessee as it now is in Vermont, Arizona and Alaska if memory serves. However, while I do and will support this bill, it seems to me that what really needs to happen to make this a reality is not simply a legislative bill but an actual change to the Tennessee constitution???

Don’t bog it down with that. If this bill were to pass; it’s as close as you will ever get to “Constitutional Carry”. Besides that, the SCOTUS has addressed that issue. You have a right to “keep” arms, the state will decide if you can “Bear” them.

Take this good piece of news and turn it into a 2nd amendment or a state Constitution debate and we are dead in the water. After it’s done you put whatever name gives you a warm fuzzy feeling on it.

The Tennessee Constitution allows the legislature to do whatever they want when it comes to carrying guns. What makes you think this legislation would be a problem or that we need to turn this into trying to change the state constitution?
