I have one in 9mm and love it. By far my favorite weapon. I only have had issues with cheap ammo, so now use only quality factory ammo and have had no functional issues. It is a dream to shoot and supremely accurate for a gun so small, plus it's just plain cool. I would highy recommend the EMP.

I have had the EMP in 9MM for 3 years and love it. The only thing I carry more often is my LCP. The only thing that I would change but have not yet, is the grips. Mine has the rough G10 grips, but it is a dream to shoot with them, so i guess they will remain. They are rough on carry, but plan on a crossbread with a lil extra leather at the grip to fix that prob.

I love my EMP as well, but I am considering a new carry piece. After a day of carrying with my MTAC or OWB holster, my back is sore.

I have the Kimber Ultra Aegis, which is pretty much the exact same gun, in 9mm.

Its a wonderful gun and I highly recommend it. Same for the EMP. These two guns were built around the small 9mm platform, so they perform well. I'm sure the 40 is great too.

My EMP is a 9mm and came home with me about six weeks ago. After shooting it enough to get comfortable with the reliability, it has become my #1 carry gun. The 9mm is several ounces lighter than the .40, but I think all the other "features" are the same. Mine has the factory G10 grips, and they stick like glue when firing, and I think they look better on the gun than the cocobolo the EMP's originally came with, but both are still available.

Surprisingly accurate, great 1911 ergonomics, very nice mid-level 1911. It is also a fantastic carry piece, night sights, decent trigger (mine is shooting in well) and the only failures I had with mine were shooter induced. I was firing weak-hand, limp wristing the gun, and had my right hand too far forward. On recoil, my right thumb pressed in on the slide stop pin, moving it slightly inward and tieing up the gun. Correcting my grip and continuing to fire weak hand I had no problems. Also firing weak hand only caused no issues. The recoil is mild with this pistol also, even with the +P loads I carry.

The little bugger just ate up WW white box and Remington bulk as well. I've also fired several magazines of both Winchester PDX1 and Speer Gold Dot's through the gun trying to figure out what it wants to be loaded with. I was very happy with the accuracy of even the cheap stuff. If I told you what my best group was at 7 yards, you would call me a liar! No malf's of any kind, except what I noted as shooter induced.

I don't agree with the above comments on it being hard or uncomfortable to carry. Maybe because I have carried full-size Glocks, Ruger SR9, SIG 220 and so on for years. I suppose if you are used to mouse guns, it is "big" and "heavy" but not to anyone that is used to a full-size gun. This is one of the most comfortable guns I've found that chambers anything over .380 ACP or .38 Special. By the way, it comes with a pretty nice double-mag holder that when carried on the weak side, loaded with two full mags seems to perfectly balance the weight of the little gun. I don't use the also included holster although it seems pretty well made also and keeps the gun in tight against the belt. I just prefer leather holsters.

Go the the 1911forum.com, click on the Springfield Armory section and you will find a 50+ page thread on nothing but the EMP's and all the custom stuff people have done with them. Also a lot of comments both good and bad on experiences with them. Seems like the .40's may be a little more problematic than the 9mm's. I'm also not sure the .40 is worth the extra weight being added back to a small, light carry piece. Seems counter-productive to me.

Hope this helps!
