1977: The Colonial Inn in Bay Minette Alabama. (a good old fashioned brawl)

While visiting kin folk in Stockton AL. My cousin Thelma, her boy friend "Big'un", my gay cousin Johnny and me went to the Colonial Inn in Bay Minette. Now I did know Johnny was gay but everybody else in the county did. Thelma was a farm girl with a great body but her boy friend "Big'un" looked like a big fat Curly Howard of the Three Stooges. Big'un helped my change a tire on my VW once. He lifted up the back end for me.

So we were sitting at a table and the four guys next to us kept making comments like "****** and queer". Loud enough for us to hear. This 4 guys were big biker looking dudes and I knew they were looking for trouble. Thelma got up to get another pitcher and when she walked by those 4 biker looking dudes one of them stuck out his hand and grabbed Thelma's butt. Things happened fast after that. Thelma turned around and started cussin' this guy out like I ain't never heard. She has a gift for that. The guy made a big mistake. He stood up and started actin' all bad ass. Thelma punched him the stomach and I guess he wasn't expecting that. He double doubled over and Thelma continued to punch him like a punching bag. Big'un picked up our table! Picked it up, walked over to the other three guys, who were gaulkin' and dropped the table on them. Two guys got out from under the table but one guy didn't make it. Big'un jumped up on the upturned table and started jumpin' up and down. Thelma was still beating this guy. Big'un was crushing the guy under the table and I was squared off with the other two. Big'un stopped jumpin' up and down, reached in his pocket for his truck keys, threw them to Johnny and said "Git the truck!". As we were pulling out of the parking lot three police cars were pulling in.

The good part is no one was seriously hurt. No guns or knives were used. Those were the good old days.

Funny story.

Rabbit punch is in the back or your neck at the base of your skull.

Curly Neal was a Harlem Globetrotter. Curly Howard was the original Curly Stooge, brother of Moe and Shemp.

Great brawl story.
