I learned today that the Ruger Mark 1 was copied from the Japanese Nambu pistol.

I didn't know that. I started shooting my dads about 30 years ago. I have such fond memories of that gun. It came in real handy when I was a teenager to take out some stupid pesky peacocks that belonged to my grandmother's neighbor. We complaining to him about them but he said there was nothing he could do about their trespassing and pooping on the porch. The neighbor thought that hawks got is peacocks. I've never been called a hawk, :poop: .

Ok so I would have said yes to this, until about 6 hours ago when I was at the gun store and a gentleman was picking up his Nambu he had x'frd in.....he told me this as he let me handle it. i will say it was a nice piece of history!! he told me the story.

as a side not, he said that this was his LAST Japanese firearm for his collection that was used both in both the big wars!!!

I thought it was a Luger copy too.

The Ruger has NOTHING in common with the Luger other than they are both pistols. Totally different designs with only the grip angle being similar.
