As a Senator, if you were to receive a mailbox full of form letters regarding a particular issue, do they hold as much water as one that is obviously not written word for word exactly as the others?

I am all for calling and sending a well-written email but I have always wondered if the simple click and send type messages were taken as seriously.

I would say the forms are better. You get 50000 of the same thing, you read it once, see that a bunch of people feel the same way, and make a decision or not and so forth. If each letter were different, it would be hard to muddle thru them to see who was for and who against the guy, etc. Its like a petition with a lot of sigs, in that way. If you only get a few of them, maybe its not important, etc.

Plus they realize it's organized by the NRA and they understand its power. After all, in spite of its warts, that's why we belong.

I received this response from Correspondence_Reply@Alexander.senate.gov:

Thank you very much for getting in touch with me. I'm grateful you took the time to send me your thoughts on President Obama's choice of Andrew Traver to serve as Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. All Executive appointees must be confirmed by the Senate, and I will be sure to keep your comments in mind when this nomination comes before the Senate for consideration.

Sincerely,

Lamar

Wow, that's the same response I got. I'm sure he is listening very closely to We The People. :poop:

I never received pre-labeled cards, did the cards have to be ordered through the NRA?

Naw, I get them on most all issues.

Maybe it was from NRA-ILA division. I give them a few bucks now and then, usually when they send the big sweepstakes stuff.

I get lots of stuff from NRA.

Do you open all your mail from them?

Bailout Bob Corker and Lamar both voted to confirm Eric Holder. And Hillary Clinton. I doubt that they will flinch at voting for Traver, but it is worth writing them about.

The real reason why there hasn't been a confirmation vote is that Leahy postponed it. Why did he do so? Because Traver would have to answer questions about the recent ATF malfeasance that killed a former Marine and an untold number of Mexicans.

If you really want to stop Traver, call your Congressman and tell him you want open Congressional investigative hearings on Project Gunwalker (aka the Brian Terry Whistleblower Case).

Response from Senator Bob Corker,

Thank you for taking the time to contact my office to share your concerns about the nomination of Andrew Traver to be Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE). Your input is important to me and I appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts.

I recognize the importance of ensuring that a highly qualified and knowledgeable individual serve as Director of BATFE, which is charged with enforcing the law against some of our country's most dangerous criminals while upholding the rights of law-abiding Americans. I believe in allowing the President latitude in choosing the people he wants to work in his administration, however, I also have significant concerns with Mr. Traver's record and will carefully review the testimony from his confirmation hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee. Should this nomination come before the full Senate, the information you have provided will certainly help me and my staff more effectively look into this issue, and I thank you for your input.

You should know that I fully support the U.S. Supreme Court's recent landmark decisions affirming, for the first time in our nation's history, that gun ownership is an individual right protected by the Constitution that must also be respected by the states.

The right to own firearms for shooting, hunting, and self-protection is important to me as a Tennessean and as an American. I will be a consistent voice for the second amendment, and I will fight attempts to weaken those rights that are granted in the Constitution.

Please take note of the attached "Policy Points" document to learn more about the steps I have taken to protect our 2nd Amendment rights.

Thank you again for your letter. I hope you will continue to share your thoughts with me.

Anyone else get this from letter?
