primer/bullet sealing?

I did a quick search on our forum but didn't get a hit. Do any of you do this? what do you use? The stuff that reload business's sell or do you steal it from your old lady?

I've never sealed my bullets or primers. I guess if I thought it would be used in very humid conditions or stored in high humidity I might. I've had some of my handloads for years and they shot fine.

I do not use sealant. No need since it is not expected to go thru what military ammo has to go thru.

As long as it isn't stored underwater, I don't know why you'd need to seal your ammunition.

i seal mine for long term storage and when hunting in alaska

for everyday reloading no i just load it and shoot it

i dont think it matters much but it make me feel better to do it that way

I'm thinking long term storage in any and all environments that I may find myself in. I don't think I'll do it with my everyday fun ammo.

You could make your own sealant by cutting fingernail polish with a lot of acetone. All you need is a thin coating of lacquer around the primer and case neck.

but you can buy primer seal for about 3.00 a bottle cutting fingernail polish workd but i like the green sealer

only ammo I seal is my duck hunting ammo,..because sooner or later it will get we.

strange look from the Mrs. the first time I asked if she had any polish she was not needing anymore...

and the guys in the blind know which shells are mine when they hit the deck..

P.S. long term ammo storage for me is a .50 cal. can and some dessicant packs...

then again back in the 90's when I was up in New England rain,snow etc. I did find one of my old .45 ACP rounds I dropped at my range a year later no sealant of any kind.....it went bang when I pulled the trigger..felt like the other 6 in the gun and went into the same group...so unless they will be submerged,.. wouldn't worry about it..
