I added to the family with a furry friend this past weekend! Will post pictures later. I am looking for a good one that isn't outrageous in their pricing. Suggestions? Thanks!

What part of town? How far are you willing to drive? Dog, cat, or other?

Try the Eads Animal Hospital. Not nearly as far away from you as it would be from me. Dr. Tim Montague out there is a really good guy, and seems to know his stuff. First heard him on a radio show. Not bottom-of-the-barrel cheap, but not unreasonable. May also be willing to work out a discount for you under some circumstances (got one on account of a long drive out to his office). EADS

I need a new one also, Mine died on me. My lawyer, DR, and insurance agent are younger than me so I hope I outlive them. Pain having to look for another one.

You should probably have a quick visit with your Dr. to have him check that out. Unspecified pain is often the sign of a much more serious problem.

I would highly recommend Dr. Surret(sp?) at Memphis Animal Clinic. It is at the corner of E. Parkway and Central. Excellent facility and great vets. No matter where in Memphis we move, we are still going to take our girls there.

Dr. Ruth Wilburn or Dr. Brandy Ellis at Olive Branch Animal Clinic are highly recommended. I'd used several other vets in southeast Shelby County before taking my hounds there. The usually full waiting room is evidence that most of their customers like their work. They also have healthy dogs and cats available for adoption.

If you can make the drive they are truly great people. The older lady at the desk can be a bit salty, but the staff is great. I moved farther out so now I just do PetVax in Bartlett. They have been very good for routine stuff, but for anything else I'll always go to OBAC.

I have no experience with OBAC, but I agree 100% with the statement about PetVax. I trust them for the routine stuff (shots, spay/neuter, etc.) and it's hard to beat their prices. As far as anything more complicated, I use a different vet. We've been using the vet at Hwy 70 and Charles Bryan and have been satisfied. Since the old vet is gone (died? retired?), they've been great. I was referred there by some friends a while back. The old vet there was terrible, but the new one is good.
