When did the Russians introduce the Chinese to manufacturing them?

The Chinese don't need someone to "introduce" them. I used to travel international for the company I worked for, including China. Imagine my surprise when, at a trade show, I saw my company's products, reproduced, almost exactly, with cheaper components, and a different name on them. The housings and circuit boards were nearly identical. They seem to be very good at reverse engineering, without permission.

Yeah I wish I'd bought 2 or 3 when they was cheap. I bought mine in '90 and they was everywhere then. Mine shot about 3" groups at 100 yds, but always shot about 4" high.

I found a Norinco SKS paratrooper in very good condition, the barrel looks like it's never been fired. It has a side mount scope rail and includes a sling, no bayonet. It was tagged at $430, but shop owner quoted me a "cash" price of $390, $477 otd. It has matching serial numbers and Chinese markings on the left side of the receiver. It has the full wood stock... here's a pic: http://www.hk94.com/images/norinco-paratrooper.jpg Comments anyone, please. I'm thinking seriously about grabbing this before it's gone.

Yes, even at the highest TN sales tax rate (9.75%) and including TICS ($10), OTD would be more like $438.

I take your "Yes" as grab that sucker?

Not necessarily, it was just "Yes" as in I had a comment about your math. ;)

I don't know enough about the Paratroopers to know if it's a good price.

I agree with Garufa, your OTD price is too high. It's the original $430 price plus tax, give or take a few bucks. If you have to have it, don't go over $425 OTD.

I've given it some more thought and will probably pass it up. If I were simply collecting, that'd one thing. But whatever I get will end up being my SHTF piece.

I can find them locally OTD for less than $400 but theyre probably not in unfired condition. No bayonet has got to hurt the value, I dont know why people do that.
