I'm sorry about your other cat. I understand. I just had to put one of ours down early this week. She was 10 yrs old. We found her as a kitten in the woodpile outside.

Your new buddy looks mighty fluffy!

We have a main coon as well and she is just a wonderful kitty. Only cat I have ever seen that will sit and roll over on command and loves to have her "wub" (wide under belly, vets technical term) rubbed. ours is 6 years old and 14 lbs.

Awesome cat. He looks to be a very rowdy and playful guy, especially for not being a kitten anymore. He looks like a great companion. Beautiful coloring and a very fluffy, healthy coat.

I used to have a female Maine Coon that we got as a kitten when I started high school. She came down with ring-worm shortly after we got her. Then all three cats that we had got fleas really bad, i mean real bad even the humans in the house were getting bit by the damn things. Due to the ring-worm at such a young age her growth was stunted. She never got much bigger than she was as a kitten. She was the strangest cat that I have ever had the pleasure to meet and share my life with. At the pet store, when we were looking at kittens, back before it was recommended to adopt from shelters, she reached out through the bars of their cage and grabbed my sleeve with both front paws. She pulled and tugged, and would not let go until we got her out to hold. She was the most snugly and reactive of all the kittens, so we decided to get her. On the way home, we named her Dusty, Dusty Broomhead, funny huh? Like I said she had it rough for awhile with ring-worm and fleas. Everyone else in the family was trying to have limited contact with her because they didn't want to chance getting ring-worm from her. I felt sorry for her and didn't worry about the infection or the fleas, I held her and loved on her all the time. Naturally she bonded with me. As she got older she started responding to verbal commands just like a dog, she would sleep in the bathroom sink and loved when you turned the sink on to a drizzle, she would play in the water, very unusual for a cat. She would wrestle with my laid back, 25lbs of solid muscle, tomcat named Jake. He would humor her for a bit and then would just hold her down with one of his massive paws and give her a bath, which she hated. She grew up with our two black labs, Zeke and Zach, and would wrestle with them also. She soon learned that the rule for the dogs is to not chase the cats, if the cats wanted to play they could, but if the cats tried to spite one of them then they weren't allowed to chase or try to hurt the cats. She soon started bossing the dogs around, stealing their food and treats, taking their toys while they were playing with them, wagging her huge, extremely fluffy tail right in their face while they were resting or trying to sleep, she would even come right up to the dogs when they were sleeping and either grab them by their jowls or nip them on the nose to wake them up out of a dead sleep. She would never hurt the dogs, just tease them. The younger lab, Zach, would often forget about the "No chasing cats" rule and would take off after her, which she lived for. She would play in the tub just after someone got done taking a bath, before all the water was drained out, and she would try to get into the shower with you.

Anyway, her life was a very special period in my life and I was crushed when she left this world. I'm sure you felt the same about your friend. Little Jack looks like he will be a new excellent chapter in your life.

Tweety liked to play in the bathtub with the water on drizzle also. He would go into the bathroom with any family member when they took a bath or shower, but he would not get in the shower with them, he hated to get wet but loved to play with water.

Little Jack loves to play especially with the laser pointer and also loves catnip.

Maine Coons are awesome cats. If you get a chance read up on them and the history at wikipedia. I have a Maine Coon kitten. 7 months old. Dropped him off this morning at the Vets to get his manhood removed....

Very intelligent cat. I got him more or less to be a mouser. I did not know he was a Maine Coon when i answered the ad for the cat, and when I got there to pick him up, I was like "This is a 6 month old cat? he is HUGE!" Got him home and into the basement/garage he went. Thats where I have my desk, computer, leather shop, and everything else essential for me to survive. He found a place to sleep in the garage area ontop of my motorcycle gear up on a shelf. The basement and garage areas are separated by a wall, and I was doing some renovation to the wall so it had a window sized hole in it and he would come up to it on the garage side and attempt to come through to my desk top. I would look at him and tell him he had better not, he better get down and walk around totally expecting him to do as any other cat I have known and do as he wanted, not as he was told.... well, he got down and walked around to me. I knew right then he had smarts.... more smarts than my Jack Russel.

He is a total arsehole.... Teases the hell out of my dog. The dog will go over to the food dish and the cat will get behind it onto of a tool box and when the dog tries to eat he will reach out and hit the dog...

Neighbor has a Pitbull that gets loose, and comes down to hang out with me, very cool dog, loves playing fetch. Been coming down since we bought the house last Summer. He gets along with my dog just fine even when my dog tries to play dominant with him... this dog could eat mine in three bites... Well shortly after I got the cat, the dog Mocha came down and right into the garage when i had the door open and right face to face with the cat. I about crapped cause I didnt know how either would react. I jumped to get ahold of Mocha's collar and pull him back. He never made a sound, just stood there looking at this huge black puff of fur. The cat stood there and after I got ahold of the dogs collar, the cat just walked away, I loosened up on the collar and the dog eased over to where the cat was, kind of like he was checking out something he has never seen nor smelled before. The cat went back behind some boxes where the dog couldnt follow, but he stuck his nose back, next thing I see is the cat reaching out and smacking him on the nose (no claws, just pad of the paw) and the dog backed up not knowing what to do. I got the sense that since the dog didnt react in an agressive way, I could let him go. he went around that garage for the next hour sniffing out the cat and the cat would reach out to smack the dog. I finally reached back and got the cat and put him up on his bed and he immediately got back down so he could tease the dog. I have never seen anything like it.

Does your MC talk all the time? Talk back to you when you talk to him? My cat never shuts up.
