Saw a Wreck on my way to work today

Recommended Posts

1 mile drive to work. 1/2 mile an accident happens right in front of me.

Sitting at a Red Light in Oak Ridge (number 6, Turn Pike and New York Ave) this morning about 6:50 a.m. there was a wreak in front of me. A truck going east hit a tracker type vehicle going either north(I guess). I was facing south waiting on the light to change.

The driver of the truck beside me, we both communicated quickly, he called it in, I went over to check on the people first. They were both already out. One was already laying on the ground, alert and talking but certainly confused, I just answered his questions. LEO's, Fire and ambulance where there with in probably 3 more minutes.

I hated to see it.

I didn't see any blood, didn't see any obvious broken broken bones. The guy that was laying on the ground was asking what was broken, what was wrong with his face. Just tried to reassure him and let him know that help was coming.

Getting back to the Wreak, even though, it happened in front of me I didn't' see everything. I saw the east bound truck the most. I saw it set off the camera flashes. Either for speed or for running a red light. I don't know which. Those flashes held my attention for a moment almost like a deer in the headlight, I heard breaks, I believe his, then as I turned my head, I heard the impact. I saw his truck going to a stop and the other vehicle going out of the road. Then I looked to the driver beside me. That is when me and him talked quickly about he would call and I would go check on them.

I am sure there is more but that is all I feel like typing right now. I have a bit of a headache. I might post a picture or 2 later.

Before anyone ask, yes, a LEO did get a statement from me, and as I told them, I did not see the impact and I referred to the traffic camera as it probably had the best view as to what happened.

I looked thought my camera, I really didn't take many pictures. As things happened pretty fast this morning. Until the First Responders showed up, I was just kinda checking on the 2 people involved seeing if there was anything immediate they needed. Lets say I was glad to see something to bad on the surface. One guy was standing and the other guy as I said before was out of his vehicle and laying on his back before I got over there. He seemed confused and I just talked to him until the first responders got there.

He was asking what was broke, asking first about his leg which I told him I didn't see any blood then he ask about his face and I told him the same. He seemed real confused. Before the first responders got there I heard someone else told him his air bag hit him.

I pulled my camera out after the First Responders got there.

Here is probably the best picture I took.

I came home from Western KY this morning (raining cats and dogs the entire time) and I bet I saw 10 different cars that had hydroplaned off of the road.

All of that wreck will be recorded by the RLC.

I've watched myself not stop before turning on red on that very camera.

I sure would love to see the camera footage of those cameras this morning now. It would help feel in some missing parts for me for sure. I know they are not public record but I feel they should be.

I believe they are about to change a law in regards to that state-wide. Cameras may not be able to issue those type tickets soon, however LEO will still be able if they see it in person.

Talking about Failing to not make a complete stop on red for a Right hand turn. I saw something on the news about a week or so back. I don't believe that is in effect yet.

Today's wreak to be clear was not a right on red type of wreak.
