The wife and I are booked on a late May cruise and I'm looking for someone who's been and knows the ins and outs.

Haven't done the Alaska cruise (yet), but if you've never cruised with Celebrity before, I can assure you that you will be very, VERY happy with the ship, the service, and the food. If you have, then you already know what I'm talking about...lol.

Actually, this will be our first cruise ever, and we are pretty excited about it. The only thing I don't like is that I will have to be unarmed for 11 days.

Well, you picked a good one to start with. The only problem with Celebrity cruises is that you'll be spoiled for life, and you'll never be able to bring yourself to sail one of the less expensive lines. If you get anxious about your gun, just go eat something. Trust me, you'll have plenty of options. :P

As long as you're not doing the Somali Adventure Cruise you should probably be OK. Don't go on that one armed with anything less than an AH-64 Apache.

Haven't been on a Celebrity Cruise but we do spend a few days in Seward every year. If you can arrange it try and spend a

day or two in Seward. It is a fantastic, small Alaskan seaside town. Been going there for years and still love it. Folks are

friendly and very accommodating. Be prepared for all kinds of weather - especially that early in the year.

I probably will be, it's just that I have become so accustomed to carrying, it's just like putting on my shoes.

I went opposite of what you guys are doing. We went from Vancouver to Seward. I hope you planned at least a week to go around and see the real Alaska before you get on the cruise. Seward is nice to spend a few days in. Homer is cool too. Fairbanks is a tourist town IMO, but ok to see once. Try to get to Denali if you can. It took me three trips to AK to finally see Mt. McKinley on a clear day where you could actually see the summit. If you have any questions just ask and I'll try to help you out.

Wife loves to cruise. We have done many. Alaska was the only cruise I didn't want to take. I wanted to go somewhere warm. After a number of cruises I agreed to go to Alaska, inner passage, the only cruise I wanted to do again. Beautiful up there. While we have not been to the same ports every time and only once to Seward, we have gone back twice since that first cruise there. Hard to believe you will not love it. I feel the same about not having my piece with me but I would not want to pass because of it.

We're going with a group of about 30 people, and we're actually staying in Anchorage for just two nights before we sail. We go to Seward the day of departure. I didn't realize until I looked at the map this morning that Anchorage and Seward are not that close to each other.

So far we are signed up for the whale watching tour, but not for Denali. As we've never been to Alaska, we decided to just knock around Anchorage and do some sight-seeing there. May try to catch Denali the next trip.

What about Skagway and Juneau? Anything in those two places we shouldn't miss?

Thanks for the help.
