Take the NRA Basic Instructor Course along with the instructor course for NRA Basic Pistol. Try to stay awake

Submit that paperwork once it's returned from the NRA to the state along with their form and some more fees

Hang out your instructors shingle

(I was going to toss in "profit" but I haven't gotten that one figured out yet:-( )

Fallguy, if we have a private range we fall under different rule there dont we? The way I read it, it states you have to be affliated with a police force for public and for private all we have to have is the NRA courses, am I correct. I have read the whole thing multiple times, just making sure Im reading it correctly.

Tennessee has a two part system for HCP training.

The first part is that all instructors must be certified by the state. You make application after completing the NRA Instructor Course or Rangemaster's Instructor Course. Once you have paid the fees and been certified by the Dept of Safety, you can then work for a licensed school.

Licensed schools have to have an approved range, at least $300,000 of liability insurance or equivalent, and obtain a school license from the Dept of Safety.

You cannot certify people just because you have an Instructor license. You must also have a school license, or work for a licensed school.

To be honest I'm not really sure. I have glanced at it but never read it cover to cover.

But I would think most, if not all, requirements would be the same....
