Wow, I never knew that. That bit of history certainly was not taunt in history when I was in school when we covered Lewis and Clark.

I never knew about his repeating air rifle.

I was thinking the same thing. Until the repeating Rifle came about, seems those would have been real popular.

Didn't Daniel Boone's rifle as well?

Seems I heard that once, but I could be mistaken.

Back then when your life depended far more on your rifle then it does today.

I was reading and it looks like he borrowed the air rifle...but it would have cost as much as 15x a regular rifle

1500 strokes of the hand pump, to get 30 shots...Heck, I'd be wore out just getting the thing ready to fire. Good thing for them the indians didn't realize that little known fact. Might have been forever known as the "Lewis an Clark massacre". Thank God for small miracles, eh.

saw that on another forum. never knew there was something like that. i would love to see a modern version like that.
