Will buying three AR lowers at once get me reported?

Hey Guys,

I'm thinking about buying two or three lowers to play around with. I kinda want to build two matching ARs, one .223 and the other .22LR. I know I had a form submitted on me a few years ago for purchasing two handguns in the same week but they were different model 22LR so I'm sure it didn't even set off the slightest ATF flag.

Does the same form get submitted for long guns? Would three AR lowers at once get me any attention, like I'm planning to sell or something? Should I even care?

Anyway, not overly concerned but thought I would ask.

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks man. I believe you actually planted this idea in my head over in handguns. My wallet is cursing you. :D

Don't worry about it. I have seen people buy way more than that and nothing come of it.

Absolutely true. But don't think your name won't go on a "list," either. :D:rofl:

Uh oh!

By the way, can anyone recommend a FFL around Spring Hill that doesn't charge crazy fees for a transfer? I'm assuming I'll have to pay a fee for each lower.

Thanks,

Chris

I'm sure my name is on of their little lists, in that case.

I doubt they would charge a fee for each unless they ended up in separate transactions, which

doesn't make sense.

Considering most Veterans already reside on "the list" I am probably on there as well.

I just had to train my guys on our new active shooter guidelines the other day and noticed I met about half of the new "profile" markers. As do most of my team. Vet, white, owns guns, etc. Thanks government. :D

A few years back I bought 9 firearms in a single day with NICS checks from a few different dealers. 2 were stripped AR lowers, and 3 were pistols. If I made any lists, I didn't hear about it. I never had a delay at any dealer on the background checks, either. I wouldn't worry about it.

I don't believe it. I got two from two separate dealers the same day, and at the second one, they called the dealer and had him ask me some questions.

If you also believe in a balanced budget, and endorse "audit the fed", and have either supported Ron Paul or joined the libertarian party, then it is a true miracle that you haven't already embarked on a crazed shooting spree.

There is no requirement to report multiple long gun sales like there is for handguns. And I don't know ANY dealers who do any more paperwork than the law requires.

So are you calling me a liar or???:)

Every background check is case-by-case. My last name is very unique. I've only ever seen one guy with the same name, from Las Vegas, 30+ years older, and deceased. I never get flagged for having a similar name as a felon, etc. You could have been flagged randomly, or just them double checking your identity. Who knows...as it really doesn't matter as long as you passed. I've never had a single hiccup with a firearm purchase, and like I've said, I've bought more than a couple in a single day. Christmas gifts for myself and a few others :).

I realize there are two inflections for "I don't believe it." One would be calling you a liar; not the one I meant. I meant the other, as in my disbelief of my own situation compared to yours. Sorry for the confusion.

King's Firearms is in downtown Columbia, and I believe they charge $20 + $10 for the background check , so $30 per gun. Not super, but not bad either.

Who knew another guy had the last name "Outfitters". That's pretty cool.
