I have a Ruger mark III and the hammer pivot pin keeps backing out. Iive heard of the 22/45's doing this but didnt know the mark III's were also. I took it completely apart and there is no signs of wear or damage to the frame, is the pivot pin just worn out or how do i fix this? It starts backing out after 1 magazine and i just want to fix it right. Any help is appreciated

Call Ruger. They will send you the "new style" hammer pin for free. Mine did the same thing. The new one has a head on it like a nail. My old one backed out on day one of shooting.

edit

I see yours is a regular MkIII. Mine is a MkIII 22/45. Don't know if the pin situation is the same. Best of luck with it.

Make sure the spring fits into the groove in the pin or it will back out.

I found out the mark III's are different, it doesnt have the spring youre referring too. I spoke with ruger and the guy told me the hammer pivot pin is held in by the grip, some aftermarket grips leave too much of a gap(like mine). So if anyone is lookIng for new grips, make sure its tight against the hammer pin.
