Made me a Zombie / Home Defender Splatter gun. It was a Rem 870 express magnum that I picked up years ago for a steal $100. Its been a safe queen / loner gun for turkey hunting. It had a 28 inch ribbed barrel that I cut down to 19'' and removed the rib.

I put a mag extender +3, heat shield, Hogue youth forend & buttstock (12 inch length of pull), Parkerized everything and then Dura-coated parkerize color over. Select items got Cera-coated (bolt/heat shield). Meprolight tritium front bead. GG&G sling adapter.

I plan on getting a shell holder +4 or 6 and a Mesa tactical barrel/mag clamp for attaching light/laser, and a Vang Comp Big Speed safety.

I'm not into shotguns that much for rec use other than hunting. I lean rifles for my thrills but this thing has the feel of bad ars and fun in a compact package.

Thanks gunrunner32 for your help!

***EDIT***

Thats a bit of oil in the first photo, on the front pin. I missed it when taking this photo. I'm not a photographer, just a g-smith.

I figured you wouldn't have waited long after I left before you put it back together. I'm glad you liked it, I know I enjoyed doing it. Its looks great now that it's all together.

I'd be interested in how you removed the rib and cut the barrel.

Nice work.

With skill and the proper tools. Wasn't hard with my setup.

I like the decal.

gunrunner32 did that for me with Dura-coat. Sort of a last minute decision but I think its awesome looking. Different to say the least. HD shotguns are run of the mill but mine has a skull with red eyes!!

He wasnt being a smartass. He is a trained gunsmith that has invested the time and money to learn and buy the tools.

Oh, I guess a hacksaw and file would not have been the improper tools. :-\

I was just curious of how it's done. I'm sure I don't have the skills or the tools. Suspect the explanation would be a thread by itself anyway.

Feel free to call or use Pm's to ask detailed instructions. I run a business but will give DIY pointers to those who ask and aren't rude.

FYI, I am most certainly a smart ass. Not sure how thats going for me. Being a smart ass like I am....I guess I don't care. ;)

I like it!! There are lots of goodies out there for an 870 for this sort of thing.

Plenty of stuff to pick from. The finish looks great!

Everybody that is a gun person needs a good alley sweeper. This on is

a great one!!

Have fun.

Actually....With a little time and elbow grease a hacksaw and a file (and some sandpaper) could do a pretty good job on it. You would be surprised what can be done with just the simplest of tools. Just takes a bit more time.

We all have to start somewhere. I've done it that way. With the use of a machinist square to make it a 90 of course. I got a PTG tool that speeds it up for me now. Clean and a sharp 90.

Hey, bein' a smartass beats bein' a dumbass.

Spoken like a true smartass ;) !
