AutoZone employment questions, anti-gun?

As some of ya' know I've been trying to find a job and I did an online app. for AutoZone again. One of the questions really bugs me. It's question 69 IIRC and it asks. "Do you enjoy shooting guns." or some such as that. Of course I answered "yes" since I do but I think it's designed to weed out people that may own firearms and be a "Work place violence" risk. I don't understand what firearms and the enjoyment of shooting has to do with working for a retail auto parts chain.

Auto Zone is not Anti gun, they are however going to make sure you know you as an employee can't carry at work. Their distrubition centers actually are posted no guns from what I understand, of course you have to an employee to get in there.

I'd put a big fat N/A in that box.

There is no "n/a" it's all True/False questions. I just don't understand what my enjoyment of shooting has to do with my possible employment at AutoZone.

Your enjoyment of shooting is actually none of their business. And the nosier these employers get, the more flabbergasted I get.

But I'm a smartass, I'd do a write-in beside the T/F choice and say "I prefer knitting and the occasional prostate exam".

The test that they gave when I worked there was just to see if you were consistent with your answers. It was just a basic test to see how truthful you were. It may have changed since now.

I worked for AutoZone for 3 years. The test that they gave you is designed to catch you in a lie. There was probably another question on their that related to firearms in some way. Things may have change, as mentioned above, but as long as you did well on the survey you shoulf be fine.

if you really want the job I would answer it with a "False". And having a HCP would not be proof that you lied on that question. I am guessing there are people out there that gain no pleasure from sport shooting but also have a permit for self defense.

These days, at work it is best to keep your firearms interests to yourself anyway. There are other places for activism.

As a Current Employee of AZ (16yrs) I can tell you that they are not trying to "weed out" individuals that own or shoot guns... Our Home Office where I work and Our stores and DC's are places that you cannot carry... Much the same as any other business with a large number of employees... No person that I am aware of has ever been "terminated" for having a HCP... If that was the case then I know of several that would be gone by now...

At the end of the online "test" it ask if there were any questions that I didn't feel comfortable about and I put "Yes, question #69, how would enjoying shooting firearms relate to my selling of automotive parts.?" or some such as that. I just hate it when employers get into my business when it is none of theirs.
