AR-15's and Bifocals.

I have seen this problem and wonder what options are available besides dedicated shooting glasses?

With a carbine length gas system I have seen bifocal wearing shooters who can perform the fundamentals with a rifle shoot a snug group at any range that is extremely high. Red dot sights are no issue whatsoever. The shooter said the front sight is so blurry they cannot tell where it is unless craning their head backwards to look through the bifocal portion of their lenses.

When conditions are such that the front sight blends in with the target or surroundings the problem is worse. Looking at a target that is set in an overcast situation is an excellent example. Even though attention is directed to the front sight it blends in so well with the target proper sight alignment cannot be attained.

If they went to a midlength or rifle length gas system, or any other type of system that placed the front sight further away from the eye would this negate the problem sufficiently for them to regain their abilities with iron sights?

Would anything make a difference? XS white strip sights with the tritium help to a degree but are not the final solution. Perhaps the big dot sights?

Dedicated glasses are not an option since we are talking about using a rifle for purposes other than a square range situation.

Thanks.
