Zinc Alloy Question

Recommended Posts

My grandfather has a POS old "Saturday Night Special" Titanic .32 cal 5 round revolver that he wants me to re-finish for him. I know that he'd be better off cutting it up and throwing it away however he wants to see it fixed up.

I'm really not finding any good info on how to re-finish zinc alloy frames. I know you can't blue them. I know you can't really heat them up.... any suggestions?

I'd go with a durable paint application.

Dura-coat

Cera-coat

Brownell's has some DIY products as well.

Metal prep is key. Complete disassembly is required so pay attention to how you tear it down so the re-build won't be too bad. Good luck.
