USPSA at ORSA this morning

Im new to this forum, and new to the gun sport world. I found the match i went to today by talking to the guys on this site. I just wanted to thank all the folks out there who bend over backwards to help the new guy.

If you have never shot a match-GO!. It's the most fun i've had in a long time. The facility out in Oak Ridge is top notch, and as said the guys out there are too.(I was even invited to lunch after). Being new I was nervous about doing something stupid and dangerous. They explained everything so well, and were patient to walk me through the course. I took my time, focusing on making the shots and being safe. I acctually did fairly well, and walked away with a whole new understanding of how my gun works, and know what i need work on.

I think I actually out shot a couple of guys... They were wheel shooters though:D

There are no requirements for new shooters. U are incouraged to show up with what u own and have fun. (I thought id ad this since I had a hard time finding out whether or not it was true)

Delighted to hear about your positive experience. We always try to encourage new shooters. It is a commonly held misconception that you need a "race gun" to shoot USPA. NOT TRUE, come on out with your glock, sig, or virtually any other 9mm caliber or bigger pistol, a holster, and 4 - 5 mags and join the fun. I shot the 3 gun match today along with BigJ45. ORSA has a great facility and Robert, the organizer of the events there is a great guy. More folks from TGO need to start coming out....it's a lot of fun for $15.

I'd like to correct something on my first post... I looked at the final results of the match, and I didn't even beat the guy with the revolver! I wasn't able to complete one of the stages due to magazine capacity, and therefor i'm dead last. Someone has to bring up the rear may as well be me
