I hope to get to go to the Murfreesboro Gun Show this weekend. Be aware... that there are dealers that send their guns out on the floor, as "walk around" gun guys! So, not all of the guns you see being carried around by "supposedly individuals" are being sold by people like you and I... they're dealer guns!

I'll re-ask the question again. If, someone buys a gun from one of these "fake" walk around guys, are they then asked to do a background check, and add tax and TICKs? Inquiring minds want to know.

Hopefully, there'll be a good turn out of "legitimate" walk around guns being sold by private individuals, as I'm looking for a couple myself. I'll be looking for a Savage model 10 in .223 or possibly a .308, and a 20 gauge over under with screw in chokes in a Stoeger. I may even carry a "legitimate" walk around gun for sale by a private individual (that would be me) myself.

I’ve never seen a “fake walk around guy†that I know of. Why would it matter to you if the guy is a dealer or not?

As I understand it a dealer could sell his private guns as a private party; but I would think he would have to be one dumb SOB to do that at a gun show. He would be putting his FFL at risk. There are too many people with agendas at gun shows and doing forum sales not to make sure you are involved in a legal sale.

"I’ve never seen a “fake walk around guy†that I know of."

Guess I've just been at the right place at the right time. I've seen them switch out one gun at a table, and then walk around with another. If a dealer has paid for a table at a gunshow, why would he want to send someone out amongst the crowd trying to sell a gun, as though the guy with the gun was an individual seller? They have even approached me, inquiring about the price I was asking for a gun I had for sale.

"Why would it matter to you if the guy is a dealer or not?"

I don't know... it just seems a little deceptive to me. One of the main reasons I go to gun shows is look for a particular gun that an individual may have for sale at a great price.

I'm not a dealer, so I wouldn't know anything about that. From the tone of your post, you must be, as I seemed to have touched a nerve.

Again, I'm not a dealer, so I don't know what this means.

No offense intended to dealers as a whole, as I realize without you, there would be no gun show. I've done gun deals, and other deals with dealers, and appreciate them for making the gun shows as interesting as they are.

Fake walk around guys are easy to spot. They generally leave their vendor badges on, and I haven't seen one yet that takes the tag off the gun.

I’m not a dealer. You asked questions and then issued warnings; I was just responding. My post should have a curious tone; that’s what it was meant to be.

It was packed today; I couldn’t wait to get out of there.

Saw a couple of Walther PPS40’s for $599. Figured I would go pick up one at a local dealer, but they were $100 higher ($699). Guess if I wanted it I should have bought it while I was at the show. You just never know. :D

Good show today. Found a couple of single shot 16ga. shotguns I've been looking

for forever. Overpriced tho. Left 'em where they were.

Place was packed as stated.

Sno cones!!!! Sweet! Sold a .22 mag revolver, but didn't run across anything I couldn't live without while I was there. Not a bad show, but there was a lot more random junk there than the last one, which translated to less guns.

Got a Table today didn't sell not one Optic today. A lot of interest, but no takers. Oh Well Took a walk and it wasn't bad. A lot of overpriced Firearms, but all and all there were deals to be had.

Went to the show today, and enjoyed it very much. When I got there, the first primary parking lot was full, ditto for the overflow parking lot... and a second overflow parking lot in front of the old Paramount Packaging plant was starting to fill in! It was very crowded with people inside as well.

I was able to find most everything I went there to buy, and bought it. I didn't see a lot of money changing hands on the big ticket (guns) items. I wish I had time to check out all of the "individual" guns that were available, and there were quite a few! Maybe some good deals there to be had, but I had to concentrate on the other items I went there for. I got the idea there just wasn't a lot of money in people's pockets today. There wasn't a lot of shotguns there, and I've been keeping an eye out for a couple of specific ones... but narry a one of them there. Also, looking for a specific bolt action rifle in .223, but didn't see one as I was busy with the other stuff. There were a lot of ARs and tacticool stuff there. Overall, I think it was a pretty good show. Glad we got it in the B'oro. In my opinion... it was better than the Nashville Fairgrounds show last weekend.
