Conspicuously not posted

Unfortunatly I have spent quite a bit of time at UT hospital in the past week. I looked carefully around the front entrance and two other entrances and it is not posted. I didn't carry the first couple of times I went since I just assumed it would be posted.

is it not considered part of the university so therefore out of bounds without a posting?

i went to the Gray Fossil Museum a couple of months ago. I carried as usual, and did not notice any posting against it. I also did not notice the big old sign on the building that said Eastern TN State University until we were getting in the truck to come back home, oops.

I am pretty certain that it is considered part of the UT campus. They have student doctors there and it is patrolled by the UT Police. It's definitely part of the UT system. I wouldn't risk carrying there myself without confirming that with UTPD.

I was there over the summer and never noticed any signs either. I used several different entrances and never saw one. My friend that was with me says she saw a sign somewhere but couldn't remember where. I think she was mistaken.

Entrances from the parking garage to the professional building elevators (green level anyway) are posted as of 1/27/11 when I had an eye appointment. HTH.

If it's UT it doesn't need to be posted. East_TN_Patriot nailed it. You need to check with UTPD, otherwise you're gonna end up in a bad way if someone sees it.

I was there today shooting (video) and it is most certainly posted. But again, it doesn't really matter because I would assume that since it is called "UT" hospital that it is owned by UT. However, they do have the wrong signs posted because they should have the school signs instead of the posting signs for other businesses.

I know that things are different from state to state but here in Nebraska all hospitals & medical buildings are off limits to ccw whether posted or not.

The front doors and 2 side doors I used were absolutely not posted, but Punisher may be right that they don't need to be. I hope I won't be going back anytime soon so I won't need to worry aout it.

Doesn't seem to be owned or operated by UT anymore

UT Medical Center - History of UT Medical Center

1999 — University Health System Inc. (UHS), a not-for-profit entity, was developed. The Graduate School of Medicine’s educational mission remains a function of the University of Tennessee.

1997 — UT President Joseph Johnson announced that UT would seek legislation that would allow the UT Board of Trustees to look at the possibility of other operational arrangements for the hospital such as transferring the hospital to an independent, not-for-profit corporation.

I do know that if it is a teaching hospital facility, like Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, you can't carry a handgun there. I am kind of unsure if people can even carry at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis because it is the teaching hospital for the med school in Memphis.
